  • STEMing Up Our Science Lab

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

I cannot tell you how much these activities are meaning to our students. I have used about half of the project activities so far and every single one has met with excitement and an eagerness to learn. The hand held digital microscope has been used with several different grades. Younger students learned some basics of science tools in general and experimented with looking at microscope slides, and the older grades got to research and ask questions about microscopic elements using our new technology. The rug we received is working very well in helping to maintain classroom focus.

The Johnny Appleseed STEM kits were a big hit with my 1st graders that added a scientific activity to their historical studies. I had to redesign and modify the activity a bit as it was originally written for 2nd and 3rd graders, but the students and I both loved how it taught the 1st graders critical thinking skills..

In 5th grade we used the STEM Para-shoot kits. Combining the lesson with space, they tried to design a MARS landing gear that would keep their "Rover" or egg alive and un broken when dropped from a significant height. This really got them thinking and questioning.

Next I will be using the Bee bots for cause and effect learning and the electricity kits for 5th grade STEM. The science club will also be doing some water testing this winter with our new testing kits. Everyone is really excited about all the new kits.”

  • Cozy Up With a Good Book

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

Thank you for your generous donations. My class has been so excited about all of our new books, and especially our new cozy reading furniture. We have used our newly designed reading area for both independent reading, and for group read-a-louds. In addition to a great place to sit back and read, our reading area has offered a cozy place to relax when the weather has gotten us down.

We can never express how grateful we are for such amazing people supporting our goals of rebuilding all that we can, post hurricane.”

  • Let's Get Physical!

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our project. My students did not know what to expect when the large boxes arrived in our classroom. Their faces were priceless when I began opening the boxes. They were so excited to see all of the new materials for them to use. The first day using the materials, I could see just how these materials would make a huge impact on my students. They are learning social skills, as well as, having fun!

Once again, thank you so much for your donation to this project. I'm excited to see just how much my students learn this year."”

  • Read! Books for the Classroom!

    Funded Aug 20, 2019

There are not enough words to express how grateful I am for your contribution towards purchasing the new books that my students needed to enhance their learning experience. The students were excited to come to school and read new stories. They read daily in my class. We have enriched learning with book studies, and author studies. The students are on a quest to read 100 books this year. Thank you for your help with this goal!

The new books are in the classroom library. Reading everyday is crucial to advancing reading fluency, and comprehension. Your generosity has enabled these students to have new books to read in their classroom. I will never be able to express our gratitude in its magnitude. Thank you!”

  • Books are Treasure!

    Funded Aug 20, 2019

Research has stated that students who read also do better in other subjects and score better on standardized tests. The books that we received will give our students the great opportunity to develop strong reading skills. Students want to read when they are interested in a book. These books are a great way to grab student attention!

One student in particular has made it his mission to read the entire Harry Potter series. He is so excited to meet this goal! Thanks to this project, he will be able to meet his goal! We are grateful for the generosity and plan to use the books every day!”

  • Born To Be Wild!

    Funded Aug 15, 2019

Thank you for your contribution to our classroom. The kids were so excited to see our new tricycles come on and have been tearing up the road ever since. This is the first year our PreK has had an exclusive playground built just our size. These trikes along with many new trucks, a kitchen area and some sand piles have been just what they needed.

After losing so much to Hurricane Micheal, it has been good for our community as a whole to have so many pitching in to help us rebuild our lives and our communities.”

  • Motivation for Learning ASD Classroom

    Funded Aug 2, 2019

My students now love school thanks to your generous donations. They are motivated and engaged in learning and it shows in their expressions! They are able to utilize technology to engage in educational apps geared exactly toward their individualized instructional levels, and their test scores reflect their new learning. Students with little to no expressive vocabulary are now sharing their needs and wants verbally! Several students have already mastered reading goals and math goals they would not otherwise have been able to pursue.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bates
