Message from Superintendent Sean McKenna

Our district is committed to ensuring all graduates of Griswold Public Schools journey into the future as engaged citizens, effective communicators, critical thinkers, and resilient problem solvers. To get them there, our mission is to ensure our students are connected, by nurturing individual student talents, and by fostering a future-focused mindset.

Our hope is that our partnership with DonorsChoose will serve as a mechanism for fostering additional support for our Forward-thinking programs. Thanks to this partnership, our teachers can share information about their goals for their students, classrooms, extracurricular projects, and grade levels with donors from across the country. We're excited to welcome people from all over to play a special part in making dreams a reality for our Griswold Wolverines, and be able to offer exceptional, innovative experiences and opportunities for our students and school community.

About Griswold Public Schools

Griswold Public Schools serves students pre-kindergarten through grade 12 from Griswold, CT, and its borough of Jewett City. Griswold Public Schools (GPS) educates for excellence by ensuring our students are connected, by nurturing individual student talents, and by fostering a future-focused mindset.

GPS is made up of four buildings: Griswold Elementary School serves students grades preK-4; Griswold Middle School grades 5-8, and Griswold High School grades 9-12 all reside on a shared 70-acre campus. An off-site Alternative School supports middle and high school students in need of additional support. Over 50% of students at GPS qualify for free & reduced lunch, and 20% have disabilities. Griswold High School serves roughly 550 students from Griswold and Jewett City, as well as neighboring towns of Lisbon, Canterbury, Voluntown, Preston, Sprague, Norwich, and Franklin. Graduates of GPS journey into the future as engaged citizens, effective communicators, critical thinkers, and resilient problem solvers.

To bounce back from the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our district is focused on moving Griswold Forward, and has set the following goals:
1) Social and Emotional Learning - committing to the advancement of social and emotional competencies in inclusive and equitable learning environments so that all of our students can grow and thrive.
2) Blended and Personalized Learning - focusing on promoting the implementation and expansion of Blended and Personalized Learning in all PreK -12 learning environments.
3) Research-Based Instruction - exploring and implementing research-based instruction to improve outcomes for all Griswold students.

Thank you for supporting Griswold Public Schools teachers and students!
