Every project on DonorsChoose.org is a worthy one, but these all had something about them that really have a special pull for us. 1) Most are for schools with High Poverty levels -- the needs are very real & incredibly urgent. Many are requests for the MOST BASIC supplies: Paper, Pencils, Notebooks -- How can we expect students to learn without these essential learning tools? 2) Projects are from all over the country, but do tend to include a few more in NYC (where we live) and ... more

Many are requests for the MOST BASIC supplies: Paper, Pencils, Notebooks -- How can we expect students to learn without these essential learning tools? 2) Projects are from all over the country, but do tend to include a few more in NYC (where we live) and Upstate NY (where I grew up). 3) Literacy projects are often listed, because these are life skills that students need no matter what path they choose in the future. 4) We support many Autism projects & commend every Special Needs teacher for their dedication. 5) Music & Arts' projects: sadly, budget crunches often crush these classes first.
