  • Veggie Treasures: Making Our School Garden Accessible to All

    Thank you for your generous donation to our school. Our students greatly appreciate your support. We were able to expand our garden and add an accessible raised garden bed.

    We often talk about diversity, but actions are always more powerful. Adding an accessible aspect to our garden speaks very clearly to our students that no one should ever be left out and that all people are valued and important. These types of lessons can't be taught in a text book.

  • From Asparagus to Zucchini and Onto Our Plates!

    We are so grateful for the light cart to help our garden grow! The students love having the plants inside the classroom as a daily reminder of what we have growing outside in the courtyard. We assembled the cart the day it arrived and immediately started plants from seeds.

    Right now we are focusing on herbs to grow indoors over the winter. We have basil, thyme, oregano and cilantro. The cilantro is doing the best. The kids are excited to make some fresh salsa with the last of our tomatoes that we are harvesting next week.

    I am especially happy knowing that the kids will see plants growing over the winter and that despite gray days we will have life inside our room. We plant to fill all three shelves with plants. I just purchased a number of great plants at a sale by our local Master Gardeners and the students are excited to learn about them and care for them.

    I am very grateful for your kind help and generosity. Please know that you have helped spark my students' interest in the living world and healthier eating. We'll post more pictures soon!”
