  • Hands-On Social Studies

    Funded Aug 5, 2009

    Dear Friends,

We have had the best time using all the materials you so graciously donated to my classroom. My students have been able to make books, foldables, and scrapbooks with all the supplies you gave. My students have a collection of "hands-on" things they have made, which results in them remembering the information they learned better and remembering it longer.

It's funny how some people take basic materials for granted. Like paper, glue, and colored pencils. These are things that are priceless in my class room. Thank you for your gracious donation.

    Mrs. Graham”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • We "Flip" For Social Studies

    Funded Apr 5, 2009

    Dear Friends,

I can not begin to tell you how much fun we have had using our flip camera! I give the students each week vocabulary words and then have them "act out" the word while the others guess what the word is. I video them and then play it back for them to see. They love watching themselves! We also do reenactments of battles we've studied and I video them also. At the end of the year, I want to put all the videos together to "capture" our year together and to remind them of all the things they have learned and what fun we had doing it.

Using this camera with my class has also brought some of my students out of their shells. Those that were once shy are now "hams" in front of the camera!

This flip camera has been a great addition to my class! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Life Cycle Of A Chicken

    Funded Mar 2, 2009

Words cannot express my sincere gratitude for your generosity. The learning experience provided by the materials that you provided is truly amazing. The day that the packages arrived was an exciting time in our classroom! Students were very anxious to open the boxes and begin our chick hatching journey!

We received eggs from a local farmer a few days later. Students were very diligent about caring for the eggs, checking the temperatures and the humidity. They were inspired to use the computer to research the entire hatching process.

When the eggs finally hatched, we were all amazed! The students took really good care of the chicks, feeding them, watering them, and cleaning the brooder. We took a trip to a local daycare and my class gave a presentation of the proper care of the chicks. After keeping them for a week, we took the chicks to the farmer. We will enjoy using these materials for years to come. I am sincerely grateful for your support. You are appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Listen Ya'll!! I'm reading!!

    Funded Mar 11, 2009

My class is thrilled with the new Tag Readers and books that you all so graciously provided! We use them on a daily basis. During our silent reading time, students get their Tag Reader, a set of headphones, and their book. They go to their special place in the room and read, read, read!

It is so important for all students to be able to read independently. The Tag Readers have made it possible for my non-readers to do just that! I can not thank you enough for your generosity and for the support that you have given my students! I am truly grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher
