SPECIAL DONATIONS FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS! We are supporting the 2011 Tomato Nation Contest with projects that need LESS THAN $100 to complete! Your support will provide special needs students with resources and tools to provide them with a better educational experience!! Every donation counts, even $1!!. If you COMPLETE the funding for the project you will even get PERSONALIZED thank you letters from the teacher and the students!.
I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for donating to my project on DonorsChoose. I have received all of my materials. The digital scale and balances are amazing and will help my students develop their understanding of weight/mass. We have already spent some time exploring the new balances and digital scale. The students enjoyed using objects around the classroom to compare weights with the scales and to find things that weigh "about a pound" and "about a kilogram".
Nearly everyday, I receive emails about the budget cuts and impacts on K-12 education. I know with the cuts there is no way my school could have afforded to purchase these needed resources. With your help, my students will have the resources they need to develop their understanding of important measurement concepts as well as other mathematical concepts.
Thank you again! I hope you enjoy your summer and are blessed in return for your kindness and generosity.”

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project Write! Write! Write! These materials have been a valuable resource to our classroom. My students have been able to work on their writing skills while learning through hands on experiences. Each and every time I get the materials out, their faces light up and they are eager to work with and learn from the materials. I can't thank you enough for this wonderful donation. Not only does it impact my students this year, but I will be able to use the materials for years to come.”
Thank you for funding my project! The shelves and plastic containers are being used daily! The students are becoming independent learners.
The cabinet is used to store our calendar materials. We begin the day with calendar and having all the supplies in one location provides a good start to the day. The calendar helper is able to pass out the students calendar binders and access other calendar materials independently!
The shelf and plastic containers provide a location for students' independent work. After lunch, the students check their container, remove their independent work, go to their desk, and complete the work. They are no becoming independent learners!
Thank you all so very much for supporting our class! Your generous donations have made a huge impact in our reading instruction. My students and I appreciate your kindness so very, very much.
We get our subscriptions to these newsletters every month and they include an issue for each week. My students look forward to Weekly Reader or Time for Kids time because the topics interest them and they can actually read them! This is a very big deal for my students because they struggle so much with reading. Developing an interest is one of the first major steps in becoming a proficient reader.
Again, thank you so much for your support. You have made a difference in the lives of some very special kids.”
We are truly enjoying the materials that your generous donations have provided our classroom. Our students are always so excited to open the boxes from our Donors Choose projects. Just the boxes alone provide opportunities for communication building and functional skills because everyone is always intrigued by what could be in the box.
In the last few months we have been busy introducing concepts that center around healthy food choices and learning to follow step by step instructions that are provided in our visual cookbook. We have learned how to make smoothies, pancakes, butter and snack mixes. The food pyramid pocket chart helps our students begin to identify food by category and makes it possible for them to place the pictures on the chart. Having the rolling storage cart has made it easy to keep all of our cooking tools organized and easy to find.
Thank you again for helping our students learn new skills in a unique and engaging manner. We appreciate your support and want you to know that your donations have made it possible for our students to being their journey toward learning the skills they need to become independent and productive individuals. ”

I would like to personally thank you for your generous donations to my classroom. The color photo printer allows us to print class pictures, research for projects, scores for self-assessments, and type stories as final copies or published copies for books, and so much more. The children are learning how to use the computers and printer independently. Allowing the children the use of these technologies helps them to improve their writing. It increases their knowledge of various computer programs which is needed with how technologically advanced we are today. They gain a better understanding of various topics from being able to use research/photos. They have gained an interest in writing because they have the capabilities to be a real author by publishing their own writing. This has improved their self-esteem and confidence in themselves and their capabilities. Many struggle with their hand writing which lowers their confidence. Being able to type their work on the computer and print it allows them to feel confident in their work and be proud of what they write.
We appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity. Without donors like you, many schools would not have the resources they need to be as successful as they can be. Thank You!.”
Thank you for the generous donation to the project, Shhhh! It's our secret! My students are all struggling readers. They are very much aware of the fact, and are embarrassed by it. They get so excited when they have success on a test. Having a netbook will give one more student the ability to take a quiz orally, without anyone being aware. It makes me proud and happy to see the smiles on their faces, when they do good on an assessment. This boost their self-confidence and sets them on the track to success!
Thanks again! ”

Thank your for bringing 300 new books into my students hands! With these books we are able to read in small groups and each student has their own book. My students are able to take these books home and read with their families. My students are engaged with these books because they are successful with them. The books reading level increase slowly so my students are able to read most of the words in the next book they are assigned. They are developing confidence in their reading which is leading to a lot of progress in their reading!
My students are in high school and reading mostly on a pre-k to kindergarten level. They have had little success with reading at school, yet they get off the bus each day ready to work hard. My students have not given up and want to learn to read at higher levels. I have one student whose mother asks him every day what he did at school and everyday he answers "learning how to read." This student is 14 years old and reading on an early kindergarten level. And yes everyday he works hard on learning sight words and letter sounds. Thank you for providing my students with books to help them reach their goals.

Thank you again for your generosity! I am pleased to announce that we are the first middle school at our district to have audio books available for students with disabilities. The students were very excited to see the new materials and love that they can enjoy books by listening to them as they follow along in the actual book.
In the past, we would always recommend to parents to go to the local library to check out audio books for their student. Now we can share with parents that we have audio books available at our school site! This helps students and parents know that we want all of our students to be successful and love reading!
Through my experience as a special education teacher, I know that as a students reading level increases, so does their love for learning. Audio books help not only my students with learning disabilities, but also my students with visual impairments and Autism continue to enjoy reading. Thank you for partnering with me to support students with disabilities and helping to foster their love of reading!”

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. The friendship games arrived in September and have gotten steady use since that time!
I have focused a great deal in my classroom lessons this year on respecting others, inclusion, and how to appropriately join a group. These games have helped me to augment those lessons with my students who are at-risk socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. The games cover a wide variety of topics all related to friendship, including manners, understanding the feelings of self and others, bullying, and more. My students have been able to master important friendship skills while playing games, so they hardly notice the hard work they are doing to change how they interact with others. I love it and so do they!
I love my job because I feel like I make a difference in the lives of children. However, I could not do my job without the help of folks like you. Thank you for your generous contributions which are, I believe, life changing for my students. You are appreciated!”
With gratitude,
Dr. Taylor
