This is my child's neighborhood, where the schools are high poverty with many children coming from homes where English isn't spoken. The teachers are great, but they could use some extra help. These programs could make a huge difference in the academic lives of my daughter's friends!

I can not express in words the gratitude I have for this gift to our classroom. The materials that you helped to fund for our classroom will not only help my current students, but also future students yet to come. When I wrote the project, my goal was to help my current students who are blind or have visual impairments. I did not see the potential of other students in the classroom who have had the opportunity to use and benefit from the materials so graciously given by you, our donors. Because of this, I am revising goals and setting the bar higher within the classroom for all the students.
Today, many teachers are asked to teach more students with fewer resources. With the help of you and other donors just like you, children are still being given some of the necessary resources needed for success. By giving to this project, you have given my classroom resources that will be used to teach skills and knowledge that was before not possible. Again, thank you for your generosity! ”
With gratitude,
Mrs. McFadden

We have been using the needle arts materials sent to us through your generous donations. My students are busy working on knitting projects. Some projects are gifts for others; some are for themselves. The true gift they are experiencing is the talent and pride that comes with their efforts.
One student recently finished a scarf for his mother. It was to be a birthday present for her but he didn't have it finished in time. She was very upset that no one remembered her birthday until Kyle sheepishly told her he was working on something for her. I am going to include a letter in your thank you package that she wrote expressing her joy at finally seeing what her son "was up to". When Kyle finally finished that scarf, he nearly burst from pride. I wish you could have seen his face and the other student's faces who stood around him patting him on the back. This project inspired others to create and now we are experiencing 'knitting fever'! The supplies of needles and yarn are helping to tend to that fever.
I am forever grateful for your generosity. Even though my students are very young and they don't always express in words what they are feeling, please take it from me that they, too, are eternally grateful for the opportunity to knit, crochet, and complete projects with their new found skills.
This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The yarn and other supplies that were purchased due to your kindness have helped my students complete a knitting project of 100 caps for kids with cancer. This project has also helped my students with hand-eye coordination. Some of the caps were extraneously beautiful. The students were very creative. Many of the students showed the caps to others in the school and they all had positive comments that encouraged the students to want to make more caps.
This project has helped to develop a life-skill that could prove to be profitable. One of the teachers commented on how nice the caps were and that she would pay as much as $10 for one of them.
The student who knitted the most caps was a young man in the ninth grade. He had never knitted anything in his life before this project. His mother even liked the fact that her son was doing something for others. I broke the project into two phases of 50 caps each. We managed to complete the first 50 caps before the Holiday Break and then the other 50 caps before our spring break. He won both mini-contests with a total of 31 caps.
We are truly grateful for your participation in the Donor Choose program. Without your heartfelt donation my students would still be wondering what to do for their community service work. I thank you!”
Thank you all so much for your generosity. During the past few weeks I have been creating a working portfolio for each of my students based on the North Carolina Extended Content Standards and their Individual Educational Goals. I am having a very hard time collecting student work samples when most of the learning in my classroom is engaged by hands-on activities. We currently are working on graphing items based on one attribute. We have graphed fruit loops, valentine conversation hearts and different color farm animals. I am so excited to collect data and increase my student's portfolio with the use of the Flip Video Recorder. The videos will allow the parents access to see their child's work in a whole new light. Thank you again for all your support. I am so excited for the recorder to arrive!”

Thank you all for your kind and generous donations. These books have already had an impact in my classroom. My students love them. Among the books are many bestsellers that my students have wanted to read but did not have access to. I have waiting lists for several of the books and some students have already read two or more books. The students reading logs are fuller than they have been all year. They're reading and actually enjoying it. I don't have to tell them to read anymore they just do it. Thanks so much.
These books will inspire students to read not just this year for for many years to come. Thanks again.”
Thank you all so much for your support of my students. Yoga has been a big hit among my students. They are having fun learning about how to take care of their bodies while strengthening their muscles and relieving stress at the same time. They have even requested that I teach yoga more than one day after school!
In our world of busy schedules, stress, and fast-food restaurants, I think it is so important for students to learn how to better care for themselves. As these students graduate from high school and embark on their journey to college, I want them to have the skills that they need to relieve stress and make good decisions about health and wellness in their lives. This has been their first experience with yoga, and I am so proud of how many students have stepped out of their comfort zone to try something new!
I truly appreciate your contribution to our yoga program. We could not have done it without you! We will continue to practice and think of the kind people like you who made this wonderful after-school program possible! Namaste. ”

I would like to personally thank you for your donations toward our Sensory Room! With your donations we were able to purchase some great activities that have been able to meet the Sensory needs of our children along with other children throughout our school who have sensory needs. We were able to set up 8 different sensory centers: a sand table, bean and rice table, puzzle center, chill center, swinging center, sensory table, art center, and some motor activities in the center of the room. We have already seen improvements in our kids behaviors and attention span by taking 2 trips a day to the sensory room (morning and afternoon). We have nonverbal children who have become more verbal when they take a trip to the sensory room. It is amazing how much of a difference sensory input can make in the lives of these children!
I want to thank you again for your generosity and making a difference in the lives of these wonderful children! I can't wait to see the gains that these children make by adding more sensory input!”
This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books that you donated have helped my students every day for a unit. We've used them to broaden our vocabulary, to write essays, poems, and to have a greater understanding of the world around us. This novel was used in all of my classes.
Our school is currently facing a budget shortfall like many other schools this year, so without your help, my students would never have had these vital resources. For middle school students, cultivating an interest in reading is one of the most important gifts we could give them.
Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.”
This letter is just a small token of my appreciation for the listening centers that you donated to my classroom. My students use the listening stations everyday during workshop. They love having headphones. We have also used the listening centers to help us in comprehension and other aspects of re-tell such as characters, setting, problem and solution.
Our school district is currently facing a budget shortfall and with out your generous donations these listening centers would not have been possible. Thank you for all that you do, for without you millions of classrooms in America would be going without.”
Our Rainbow rug has been in full use since the fist day. Having a large class it has been great to be able to group the children by rows, " table 2 go sit on the green stripe, if you like chocolate milk go sit on a green or blue square etc!!". We have made graphs and have met with small groups by assigning each a color block on our rainbow.
Some of my most enjoyable moments are when other teachers come in and say"wow!, what a rug. How did YOU get it?" I then get to share my great experience on Donors Choose. I want to thank each of you for your generous donations so that my class can now be sitting on the rainbow!
My whole class says ,thank you, thanks, merci, thank you, gracias, and thank you !!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wilson
