Pencil Sharpener, Paper, Bulletin Boards, Oh My!
Funded Mar 19, 2010Thank you so much for donating our new bulletin boards, pencil sharpener and paper. Our district has cut the school budgets drastically. With a split class of 30 students the bulletin boards have been an outstanding resource to help students have consistent reference points to work with during lessons. While I work with my third graders, I use the bulletin boards to have my fourth graders working on activities. On alternating weeks, the third graders use the boards while I work with the fourth graders. Since the boards can be moved around the room, it allows more flexibility for where we work in the classroom. This helps to cut down immensely on distractions that tend to interrupt instructional time.
The pencil sharpener has made such a difference in our classroom! Students no longer have to leave the room in order to sharpen their pencils. Also, the sharpener is quite strong and quick, so it does not cut into instructional time to use.
I have many students with attention issues. Creating graphic organizers from the paper really helps them to stay focused on the topic we are working with. What was once copying words into a vocabulary notebook has now become a hands on activity that helps students to have a valuable study aid when they have the activity completed.
It is donors like you that make it so much easier to acquire the tools necessary to help make our students more successful in and out of the classroom! Thank you so much again! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. McCord
