  • A-V Equipment Needed

    Funded Oct 24, 2008

Thank you so much for your generous gift to my classroom. The equipment I have in my classroom is over 10 years old and is no longer working properly. Your gift will be appreciated by my current students as well as my future students.

The new equipment will help support the curriculum, and knowing that the equipment will be usable will make my job a little easier.

Thank you again for your generous support of my public school students”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schmidt

  • The Outsiders - Class Set of Books

    Funded Oct 3, 2008

Thank you so very much for the gift of The Outsiders classroom set of books. When I announced that our project had been funded, the students cheered! Since this area is high-poverty and a large portion of our students experience personal hardships of all kinds, I believe this book will help them to make a connection with literature that they otherwise may not have. Our county does not have a public library and there are very few opportunities for children to participate in activities that will enrich their lives and divert them from detrimental situations. Your thoughtfulness is going to have a positive effect on 120+ children. My students and I cannot thank you enough!

    Sincerely,

    Shann”

  • Romeo and Juliet for All

    Funded Oct 8, 2008

Thank you so very much for assisting us in obtaining Manga's version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The students saw the single copy I had purchased and are very excited to know that soon we will have enough copies that we can read them together. We will read the Manga version first so that we have a good understanding of the play. The pictures in the graphic novel will help with the comprehension of the themes and actions. Then we will read the original Shakespeare version. We also hope to prepare scenes to perform for the younger students. Thank you again for helping us.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. ”

  • We're All "Write!"

    Funded Oct 10, 2008

Thank you so much for helping to fund this proposal. In such economically challenging times, your generosity means more than you can imagine!

My children have settled into first grade and are beginning to use classroom centers. Our writing centers are very important because they encourage the students to take risks and begin to write. When I told them that our proposal had been funded, they were excited and, every day since, have asked when "the stuff" will get here.

    With great appreciation,

    Gin”

  • How Far Can We See In Space?

    Funded Oct 14, 2008

I am very excited to be receiving these wonderful tools for my class. I can't wait to tell my students the great news. Even though it is a new school year, I will try and incorporate some students from last year to work on this unit, since I had let them know about the opportunity we might have. I will make sure that the instruments are used for the purpose of instruction and will have great use for them in upcoming years. Thank you very much”

  • The Science Of Music

    Funded Oct 24, 2008

Thank you so very much for funding this exciting project. My students are going to be so excited when they hear we will be doing the Science of Music. Thank you for making our year fantastic. Your generosity will be appreciated for years to come. I know my students will learn so much more using the materials you helped purchase. Thank you again”

  • Imagination Is Your Preview Of Life's Coming Attractions

    Funded Oct 24, 2008

I am truly in awe that our project was funded so quickly. I was touched by all your words about the importance of reading and I will share them with my students. Thank you so much for your donation and for reaching out to my students. I have already seen enthusiasm for reading increase this year, and this will help by leaps and bounds.

One of my quiet 8th grade girls has been flabbergasted by how much she loves The Outsiders. She confided in me in hushed tones, "This is the first book I've ever actually read." Her friends told me she's read it at least three times since we started it in class. Included in the materials you donated to are the rest of S.E. Hinton's books, and I'm sure she and the rest of my students will be thrilled.

I love reluctant readers like this because you can appeal to their logical side. "So you liked this one book? Do you think, given how many other books there are in the world, there might be others you will like?"

Thank you again for filling our minds, hearts, and bookshelf!

  • Hatching A New Outlook On Life

    Funded Oct 15, 2008

Thank you so very much for your donation to my classroom project. I informed the students today of what we would be getting and they were genuinely excited at the prospect of being able to raise chickens. We have been studying life cycles lately and being able to raise chickens will help students realize the progression of life. Without your help I would not have been able to give them this life lesson. People like you are what make the educational system so successful. I am looking forward to receiving the material so that we can start watching the chickens emerge from their eggs.

Once again thank you for helping me bring this activity to my classroom.

  • Night: History, Holocaust, Humanity

    Funded Nov 20, 2008

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I truly appreciate the fact that people are willing to help out strangers and provide opportunities for children that they have never met. I know my students will be excited to read "Night" this year and learn about the Holocaust. You have truly created a wonderful opportunity. I have had a lot of success in the past teaching non-fiction and I am looking forward to building on that.

I cannot wait to get started on my World War II unit and provide my students with examples of how humans both impact and were impacted by the past. Again, thank you so much”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fox
