I wish you could have seen the expression on the faces of the children as I opened the boxes of our books. They were amazed that someone who doesn't even know them would buy things to help them succeed in school. They could not wait to look at and start reading the new books. The availability of high interest reading books at a variety of reading levels will surely contribute to the social and academic development of the children. Their reading levels will increase, which will boost their self-esteem and confidence. In addition, the exposure to the large variety of genres will lead to an expanded vocabulary, increased fluency, and content knowledge, which will in turn increase their test scores.
