Welcome to my Giving Page! Please support my efforts in Science Bloggers for Students challenge, a friendly month-long competition (10/10/10 through 11/9/10) between science blogs to see which can do the most to help low-income classrooms on DonorsChoose.org. Pick a classroom project from the list to support. And let’s beat the other bloggers! (By the way, DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 charity. See below for approvals from Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau.)
Of all the projects I have put out on the DonorsChoose website, this is my all-time favorite. Thank you so much for funding this fantastic resource. Our new skeleton is the star of the school, spending time in both our music and science classrooms. Whenever he is in the room, the students flock to him.
Today I was using him in one of my band classes to teach the students about posture and a group of students began discussing the parts, asking questions and were so engaged in learning that the class period seemed to fly by... all without any prompting from me. What a wonderful dynamic classroom our new friend helps to create!
So please accept my heartfelt thanks for your generosity. This resource will be a permanent fixture in our school and enthrall thousands of students for many years to come!
I'm writing to thank you again for you generosity. The class set of lab coats and clipboards you donated have allowed my students to not only feel like real scientists, but also to do labs that we were previously unable to do.
I teach in an urban school district; in such a setting financial constraints mean safety and teaching aids like these lab coats and clipboards are ordinarily out of reach. Your donation has allowed our class to overcome these constraints, and the foundational safety and confidence my students now have will in turn enable them to succeed in high school and beyond.
Thank you so much for your generosity, it truly is an inspiration, from myself and my 140 scientists.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Benford

Thank you so much for your donations. We can't wait to receive the science supplies. I want to thank you for all you do and just know that your donations really do go to help students learn so much about the world around them. Thank you....Thank you....Thank you!!!
I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children. In reading, we so often use abstract explanations to explain abstract things.
The tools that you have funded will enable students to see the world around them. They will be able to explore and observe so much in our classroom garden and beyond.
I hope to share with my colleagues a new technique in learning. Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce these tools to the children. ”
With gratitude,
Teacher
