  • Microphone Check - No Microphones

    I was overwhelmed by your generosity that helped provide these headsets with microphones for my students. Thank you.

    I unexpectedly had to have surgery at the beginning of the school year and was not with my students until January. The equipment arrived at school within a few weeks of my return to work. My students and I were excited when the box arrived because it meant that when the students use the computers during reading, they can hear the books and record their own reading to monitor their progress towards fluency. I can listen to their recordings, during my prep periods or at home, to provide the exact instruction they need the next time I meet with them in groups or one-on-one.

    My class consists of first grade students that are learning English as their second language. These headsets provide a way for them to hear and see the words they are learning to read with minimal distraction from noise. Their pronunciation and vocabulary has greatly improved as well as their fluency. They are engaged in their reading and are building their confidence as they discover the pure joy of reading! A majority of my class are now reading at or above first grade level. I believe that their hard work and using the headsets has greatly helped them. They are stronger readers as a result.

    WOW!!!!!!!!!! was the sound that roared across my classroom when I opened the bundle of goodies that my students received through your donation. The second I pulled out the 3 Little Pigs my students knew who the puppets were and were so excited to see them.

    The students in my class LOVE the items they received and in the day since we have had them as part of our class I can see the impact and growth it has made on my students. My students went from being able to retell the first page or two of the story to being able to retell their whole story with voice and animation.
