Welcome to my Giving Page! Please support my efforts in Science Bloggers for Students challenge, a friendly month-long competition (10/10/10 through 11/9/10) between science blogs to see which can do the most to help low-income classrooms on DonorsChoose.org. Pick a classroom project from the list to support. And let’s beat the other bloggers! (By the way, DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 charity. • Resources For Future Scientisits!

    Funded Nov 5, 2010

This is such a valuable resource, and I cannot thank you enough for your assistance. We are currently in the process of making this project a real in-depth idea, with the students really taking on the role of active scientists working in genetics. With your assistance, you have helped students in a high need area get exposure to technology they might otherwise not be able to gain access to. Those of us here say THANK YOU for making this project a reality! The students are so excited about starting this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. S.

  • Projecting Onto Our Future

    Funded Oct 17, 2010

I am beyond thrilled and appreciative that your collective donations have funded "Projecting Onto Our Future" so quickly! My students are such a dynamic and inquisitive bunch, and they loved getting the updates from me about my DonorsChoose projects. As I unpacked the Elmo projector that you helped fund, their eyes lit up as they watched in amazement. Each and every day, I'm asked no fewer than five times, "When are we going to use the Elmo today?" Whether it's a teacher-directed lesson or an interactive opportunity for them to come up and use math or language arts manipulatives or dry erase markers on the board, the Elmo projector is a fabulous tool to keep my students engaged and attentive.

In this day and age of cutbacks and economic hardships, your generosity reminds me that one of the most rewarding feelings is that of sharing with others. You have truly made a difference in the educational lives of my students, not only the ones in my class this year but those I will teach in the future. On behalf of hundreds of children, I thank you for your kindness, thoughtfulness and dedication to public education!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Atterman

  • Science and Innovation Trip to London!

    Funded Oct 15, 2010

Thank you for donating funds towards our trip! Your donation is going directly to the kids and the cost of their tour. The parents, students and teachers are so grateful for your generosity. On July 4th we will be leaving to London, England for 9 days. We will tour London, visit science based museums and biomes and see one of the man made wonders of the world, The Stone Henge.

The experiences they will be exposed to while traveling will serve as life-long lessons and will undoubtedly change their perspective on themselves and their place in the world. This will be a trip of a lifetime! In England, our students will witness new cultures first hand and experience history typically only learned in a textbook. While students will remember some material just long enough to succeed on a test, the memories of this trip will remain with them forever.

Once again, thank you for supporting our students and their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Money Doesn't Fall From Trees! Teaching Math at Class Store

    Funded Oct 16, 2010

My students are thrilled with the promise of trading their class bucks for school supplies at the class book store. This opportunity is only possible because of the generous donations we received from each of you. The students need supplies and items to be involved in their educational setting and many of their families do not have the financial means of providing pencils or backpacks. The students complete class assignments and demonstrate their knowledge of the rules in order to earn class bucks.

Your kindness will touch their lives in a special way, knowing that strangers care about their well being and want to help. They are sending pictures with big smiles soon. Huge Thanks are coming to you from 23 learners and 2 happy teachers.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher
