Stephen Colbert, Share Fair Nation (created by the Morgridge Family Foundation) and Greenville-based ScanSource are thrilled to team up and fully fund every project in South Carolina in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.
I wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of the Field of Dreams Project. Thanks to your contribution, we were able to launch a STEM program for my middle school students that has had an incredible impact.
What started as a single initiative in one classroom has grown beyond our expectations. Because of the resources you helped provide, our STEM program flourished and spread throughout the district. Today, every middle school offers STEM as an elective, giving hundreds of students the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in a hands-on, exciting way.
Your belief in our vision has truly made a difference, not just in one classroom, but across our entire community. On behalf of all of the students whose futures have been shaped by this program, I want to say thank you. Your support helped plant the seed for a lasting legacy of innovation and learning.
The document camera for my classroom really enhanced the learning in my room. We are finally able to project books, colored pictures, and more for a more enhanced learning environment. My scholars and I are very appreciative of your donations. Learning in our classroom has become more engaging and fun for the students. We use the document camera for every lesson. Thank you so very much. We can also connect the document camera straight to a laptop and the Promethian board for more engaging lessons.”
My students love their reading area in our classroom. They are able to easily locate all books in my lending library because all of them have a specific space to be placed. The revolving book shelf allows students to view the books while it takes up very little classroom floor space. With the organizational shelving, students can also locate books easily that they may have seen someone else in the room reading and they would like to enjoy too. I am able to easily locate books that may interest students. This helps them to learn how to choose a book on their level and in their interest zone. As a reading teacher, matching students with books is a vital part of my classroom. These organizers make my job that much easier!”
Thank you for supporting our astronomy program by purchasing our telescope and camera. By doing this you have allowed us to take some amazing astronomy photos of the moon, planets including Jupiter Saturn and Mars, and the Sun! We now have a thriving astronomy club that meets once a month to stargaze and it is all thanks to your donation. In the future we plan to continue outreach in our community to help spread a love for astronomy and space exploration. Once again thank you for your donation, we greatly appreciate it!”
Thank you for your donation. The tripods and cell phone mounts were a huge success. We are able to use them in all of my classes for recording high quality video for class projects. Since receiving the materials I have used them about 10 times throughout my classes.
The students were shocked to see that I had the proper equipment for them to shoot video. The funniest part was that I had to teach them how to open and use a tripod.
Currently, my students are learning how cities are developed and why things are built where they are. With this information we plan on doing a study in our city about how people use the infrastructure. Is our city walkable? Is our city driven by the automobile? (pun intended)”
The impact of your donation enabled a classroom of third grade boys become fluent in their multiplication through a fun and engaging way. The multiplication games were an exciting way to build and sustain interest in the necessary skill. These games quickly became the most popular classroom learning tool. All students were able to earn their multiplication and division reward this year. It was the first time 100% of my students made it to the celebration. If it wasn't for the donation for HOT DOTS multiplication and division, I don't think that this one have been possible.”
My students love their new Hoki Stools. They use them while they sit with me during group work to keep them engaged, during reading time, and also while they are doing group activities. They were so excited to see them. They said they never seen chairs that move like this or even look like this. I want them to be able to have some motivation to see differentiated seating and be empowered to make choices of seating, other than your traditional chair. Thank you for your generations donations! We are all enjoying our new seating!”
With gratitude,
Ms. DeBerry
This classroom project was brought to life by Produce For Kids Publix and one other donor.
My students and I would like to extend our extreme thanks for your donation. The students have not been able to use all the materials we have received. We have made use of some items through our units so far this school year. The students are always excited when they are able to use any type of manipulative. We just recently studied repeated addition (arrays). The color counters that we received were very helpful in giving my students a visual and hands on approach to constructing arrays.
We had the materials special delivered into our classroom, and all the students became alert and interested in what was in the boxes. I had them sit at the front of the room for the remainder of the day. I did not give any clues or acknowledge their presence. The next day during our afternoon procedures, I told them what the boxes were for and we proceeded to open them and pull out the contents. Of course the BINGO games were the biggest interest and they wanted to play them right then. They were allowed to pull all items out and then I explained what each would be used for.
The next steps for my students would be to continue utilizing all the materials we have received so far. The only other concern I have seen with them this school year, is having enough place value blocks for each child to be able to use them without sharing. We are also getting into the concept of note booking, which uses a lot of glue while we are in the early stages of them learning. This are both areas, I would like to create another helping Donor's Choose program in order for my students to have the materials necessary to be successful.”
Thank you so much for your generosity. These big books have brought a new interactive approach to reading in my class. The use of these books allow for students to see the words in the text clearly and they are able to read along from their seats on the carpet, locate sight words, and identify word chunks that we are studying.
After reading the books as a class. Students often like to read the books during their individual reading time and use pointers to read along. I have seen a new love for reading as they explore some of their favorite texts supersized. Pretending to be the teacher and instruct other students allows them to practice their reading skills. Students who are able to teach others what they have learned have achieved proficiency in that skill. These books have been a wonderful addition to our classroom and we are enjoying them immensely.
First off, thank you again for your generous donation. I am grateful that you decided to donate to my classroom project.
My younger students and I are really enjoying using the new magnetic tens-frames that you helped purchase. As you can see in the pictures, they enjoy making the numbers that I call out to them and completing "part/part/whole" assignments using them as manipulatives. These are HUGE for the younger students.
I teach approximately 700 students per week. When the 300 that use them the most saw them the first week, they were so excited. They have used similar tens-frames, but none that were this high tech. It makes learning so much fun when things are bright, shiny and new!
As I continue to lead the math lab for the students I will continue using these items with my students, especially my kindergarten through second graders. They really need to have the grasp on the base ten system that we use for math in order to fully understand how math works.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Coleman
