On behalf of my 30 students and I, thank you so very much for our classroom set of computer headphones and mouse pads. Now, more students have had the opportunity to use our classroom computers in a multisensory environment!
These high quality headphones have been very useful in Reading Workshop, when I give my emergent readers time to practice on websites that work on sight words and phonics. Students have also been able to use these headphones during Math, Writing Workshop, and free time as well. Most importantly, having the basic supplies for each of our classroom computers has meant that we have been able to utilize them all at one. This exposure to technology has helped my students gain computer skills and has pushed them to meet national technology standards. They have learned basic typing skills, how to go to their favorite websites, and how to log on to our school's network. What a bunch of stars I have!
Again, thank you so much for your generous donation. It is donors like you who make teachers feel supported and push us to improve our own strategies. Your help has been very much appreciated.”
ME AND MY STUDENTS WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENOROSITY. I TEACH IN AN INNER CITY SCHOOL THAT ISIN A NEIGHBORHOOD THAT IS PLAGUED WITH VIOLENCE AND TURMOIL. MY STUDENTS ARE VERY BRIGHT AND INTELLIGENT, THROUGH YOUR GIFT TO MY SCHOOL IT WILL HELP TO EXPOSE KIDS TO GRAPHIC ARTS PROGRAMS THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE. AS AN ART TEACHER WITH A LIMITED BUDGET YOUR DONATION HAS ENRICHED THE LIVES OF KIDS THAT BY ALL ACCOUNTS AND STATISTICS DON'T MATTER. YOUR GIFT IS AN AFFIRMATION THAT THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO CARE ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION COMING UP BEHIND THEM.”
I can't thank you enough for funding my project, " A Journey Through Time and Space". My students are so engaged in the learning process. I can just see the difference as they are learning so many different ways of thinking creatively and problem solving.
We began the projects by dividing into groups. The groups wrote a story, made a story board, movie poster and backdrops. After this writing and 2-D work was finished, the students created puppets, clay figures, and props. When the 3-D work was done, I handed them the video cameras, and that is when they could see all of their efforts coming together. We are in the process of filming their movies, entering the data on our computers and doing some preliminary editing in iMovie.
Without your support this activity could never have been realized. My students have been able to experience tools that are relevant to a multi-media art making experience. This has been a challenging and rewarding project for all of us. I am particularly pleased that they have had to learn to work productively as a team to accomplish their movies. Another extremely positive outcome is that they are learning art making skills in the service of their creative ideas. They must gain mastery over their materials, in order to see their art realized.
Using the video cameras, with the excellent camera bags and memory cards, created a very high level of motivation and means for my students to synthesize their ideas.
Thank you so much for your kind and generous support.
Thank you so much for your generosity! Our school is facing a budget crisis and small things such as paper for copies have been limited for the teachers. The LCD projector that you so generously donated allows me as a teacher to limit the number of copies I need to make for my students, by being able to put up the documents that I would normally pass out to my students on the LCD.
The students are also very appreciative of the LCD projector (as you will see in their thank you letters) as it allows them to actually see what we are discussing in class. We are able to use the LCD to look at maps, pictures, and video clips that we find online.
Thank you again for your support and patience. I am sorry for the delay in sending these letters and thank you's out, the LCD projector was never located in our building until a month and a half after it had arrived.
Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Stieber
This classroom project was brought to life by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 11 other donors.
I would like to thank you for your generosity. You have brought many smiles to my classroom!
The day that the package of books arrived, I told the students about our new lending library and how they would have the opportunity to check out new books to take home. I couldn't get the books in the bags fast enough! The children love checking out different books and have found favorites that they check out repeatedly. The lending library has become such a part of our classroom that the students don't ever let me forget that they have to check out a new book each day. The students are being very responsible in returning the books and bags each day and in good condition.
With your help, you have allowed my students the opportunity to read each night at home. I can't tell you how powerful your kindness is. ”
My Kindergarten students were so thrilled to see the new science materials that arrived last week! They immediately began taking items off of the shelf in the science center and placing them under the lenses of the giant tripod magnifiers to see starfish, shells and rocks up close. It is now common for me to look up from reading a book with a student and find another student peering at me from across the room using our new binoculars with a giant smile! We have already taken a close look at bugs (awfully hairy) and feathers using the projector microscope too.
I can't wait to take those binoculars to the nature center in May! Their walk will be amazing as these young explorers will feel like "real" scientists with real tools.
Thank you all for your donations. You really are special people.
Your gift has brought tremendous joy to my students.
Now we will have a beautiful library were my students can go and imagine.
I am trying to make their experience in second grade a memorable one and with your help I know that it will be. Whenever I start to feel discouraged as a teacher, I will think of the wonderful people who support education and my students. Your gift gives me hope and strength to keep teaching and to continue encouraging my students to do great things in life.”
Oh my goodness! The expressions on the students' faces was worth a thousand words. We have longed for supplies such as these to just break from the everyday grind and have fun being creative. It's such a wonderful feeling being able to go into my own supply cabinet and pull out what I need, instead of sending a note of plea around to my colleagues. Don't get me wrong, we do provide the much needed supplies for students. But, somethings are more of a priority, especially when the budget is very tight.
So, as you can see we immediately started to use the construction paper, scissors and glue sticks to create doves of peace. The students described what peace meant to them as we studied the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The doves are currently displayed throughout the corridor for everyone to see.
So, once again, thank you for your support. We could not have been luckier than to receive donors such as you. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Peoples
