All Around the Table
Funded Feb 13, 2010Can we have centers today? When can we go to centers? Can we do two centers today? These are the questions I am bombarded with every morning. My class is so excited to read. Our new horseshoe table has helped organize our room and given us a space for guided reading. Guided reading is a form of group instruction in which I am able to help a group of children develop an understanding for a story while prompting them to apply strategies they will need to become independent readers. Studies show that in order to achieve significant beneficial impact on word recognition, fluency and comprehension, students must read to an adult and the adult must provide correction, feedback and instruction on specific skill development. Our horseshoe table allows me to be close to the group and give individualized instruction.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your generosity in donating our horseshoe table. Thank you so much for showing an interest in my class and helping students achieve their dreams and their future. ”
With gratitude,
Teacher
