School Supplies Challenge

I am so very grateful to you for you helping me help my students. When I first submitted my proposal, I knew that some of my students would not be able to afford their supplies. But with the economy the way it is this year, it has been extremely tough on some of my students and their families. Though some of my students brought some of their supplies, this year only seven of my students brought all of the supplies on the school supply list. My school district has also gone through some money woes. Even though I am saying thank you from the bottom of my heart, I don't think just my thanks can let you know how much your generosity really means. It means a lot. Thank you.

Thank you for your support of my class! They are such sweet kids and they really do learn things better when they get to do hands-on projects. It is so hard for them to work in text books all day, but without simple supplies that is what we must do.

I can't wait to plan things for this Spring. My class really needs to practice their math skills, so the math games will be such a fun way for them to do that!

We have not been able to use our student dry erase boards due to the lack of dry erase markers. I am also thrilled that my class will finally have their own journals. When people find out that I choose to teach in the "project schools" they ask me why. My answer is simple: someone needs to show these students that someone cares about them and that they are worth the time and effort. I teach them that nothing can or will hold them back except themselves. There is no way for me to express what these supplies will mean to my students. It has been a struggle for many of my students to bring in notebook paper and binders let alone all the items I have requested in this proposal. I know that once the materials arrive my kids will treat them with care and cherish the ability to start collecting the data from the experiments while using pens and pencils.
