  • Engage Us!

    Funded Dec 13, 2008

I am so thrilled to receive the full funding for our project! You have provided me and my students the opportunity to incorporate more technology in our classroom. I will be able to create some wonderful powerpoint presentations and we will be able to view student-made movies and projects. I appreciate your generosity in helping my class and school, and most importantly I appreciate the fact that you realize the importance of enhancing the educational experience of our youth. It makes me realize that there are so many people willing to help make learning more engaging and obtainable for all our students! Thank you cannot begin to say how thankful I am for what you have done!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Phillipps

  • Laptops For Students With Special Needs

    Funded Jan 28, 2009

As inner city special education students, my class has grown accustomed, sadly, to a shortage of supplies, a lack of textbooks, and the absence of cutting-edge materials. As you might imagine, then, when your generous gift arrived, they were incredulous: "You mean someone sent us these computers just to be nice!?"

Your generosity has without a doubt resulted in an exciting educational experience for these students. Our final unit this year included a research documentary on immigration waves to New York City; the laptops allowed each student to conduct research independently, save and edit his or her work over time, and organize and present ideas using such innovative online programs as MyWebspiration.com, and Audacity, and Windows Moviemaker.

Perhaps, however, even more important than the academic gains your generosity has brought to us, are the emotional ones; for students so often overlooked by the educational establishment, the knowledge that someone cared enough to send a set of individual computers to them will resonate long after their final project is turned in, and, I hope, inspire each to commit his or her own acts of generosity in the future.

I sincerely apologize for the delay in getting this letter to you (your package was initially sent to our school's computer lab, where the computers were configured by our technology director prior to being forwarded to us). Please know that your gift was very much appreciated by all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paletti

  • Printer Needed: Emerging Writers With No Printed Work

    Funded Oct 2, 2008

Thank you very very much! My students and I truly appreciate your donation and will work very hard to make sure that it is used to its full capacity daily.

As a beginning teacher, sometimes I lose a little faith in the ability to get my students to achieve to the highest of their potential, not because they are incapable, but because school circumstances make even the simplest task (like printing) almost impossible.

This donation will not only boost my students' literacy abilities, but it has also given me the reaffirmation that people outside the inner city public school system care and that great and beautiful things are possible. :) I can't wait to see what miracles my students will produce as fully published authors.

Thank you very much once again!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. ”

  • Web 2.0 Meets Urban Education

    Funded Oct 15, 2008

Thank you so much for your generous contribution. I am ecstatic about bringing these resources into my classroom. My instruction has been stifled by a lack of internet access for my students. Many have no way to use computers unless they are provided by the school. But with your help my students will finally have this barrier removed. Urban students are at a serious disadvantage without these resources. I know with this generous gift, my students will now be more engaged and will begin to get the education they deserve.

I am excited to begin using these resources. Thank you again for your support. I can finally bring my students into the 21st century”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hess

  • Kindergarteners: From Super Authors to Super Publishers

    Funded Jan 9, 2009

I am so excited and grateful for your generosity. I am sure my students will enjoy the opportunity to be able to see their writing being published. We will begin working on our books immediately. These books are sure to be enjoyed by many children. May your kindness come back to you.

  • Help My Students See With A LCD Projector

    Funded Oct 2, 2008

Now that I have finished crying after reading that my project had been funded, I can say "Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You." By funding this proposal, you are helping my students to use more technology within the classroom. We currently use an Avery-Key that hooks to the television, and students are squinting to see what is on the television. Now, my class will be able to see everything on our large Dry-Erase Board. Thank-You very much”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • Write It Now and Use It Again Later!

    Funded Nov 18, 2008

Thank you very much for your generosity! My students are incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity to store their writing for present and future use. I am so excited for them, and know I they are going to appreciate this gift as much as I do. Their latest writing project is a personal narrative about something they felt a strong emotion about. Imagine their surprise when I share a short narrative about the time I submitted a proposal for my 4th grade class and it was funded! :) Again, thank you for making a difference for my students.

    Sincerely,

    Marian”

  • iPod Literature Station

    Funded Oct 8, 2008

I would like to thank you for funding this project for my class and me. I really enjoy reading and my goal this school year is to increase my students' love for reading. I have planned a lot of exciting activities and projects for my students this year. The iPod Literature station plays a big part in those plans. I really love using technology in my classroom. Today's society is controlled by technology, and our children need to use it to further their education in all possible ways. Once again, I would like to say thank you.

  • Hurricane Katrina Hit Our School

    Funded Oct 2, 2008

Thank you so much for funding a digital camera for our classroom. I am always buying throw away cameras because that has been the easiest thing to do. Now we will have our own camera. It will be put to good use for many years to come. Thanks, Mrs. ”

  • Scanner Needed For Student Newspaper

    Funded Oct 2, 2008

Thank you so much for funding my proposal, "Scanner Needed For Student Newspaper."

My journalism class is beginning to put together the first issue of our student newspaper, The Advocate. Your donation could not have come at a better time. Having a scanner will enable them to include drawings, cartoons and other artwork in the newspaper.

Thank you again for your generosity. My students are a wonderfully dedicated group who will greatly appreciate your donation.

    Best regards,

    Kell”
