It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. Thank you for your generous donations that have helped equip my students with a quality camera for quality photographs. My students use the camera regularly for high quality video and pictures that they edit and share on their webpage or on our class website. For years we have had a first generation digital camera and now we are able to properly capture the beauty of the landscape and our outdoor learning in such a way that we can effectively share it with our community.
The unique nature of my outdoor science class lends itself to unique photography and sharing of images and video. I am again, quite thankful that your donation has helped make this even easier, because the more straightforward the process the more likely my students are to engage in the task. I often use the camera to capture their learning process and their engagement in certain activities.
Thanks again for your thoughtful contribution to public education and technology integration. ”
The contribution you have made to my science students has helped integrate technology into my classroom and given students an opportunity to be more involved in presentations and organizing data. I am very thankful for your generous donation and appreciate your intentions to support public education.
Your donations helped purchase a netbook for our classroom. We have used your netbook to post group data to analyze as class data for biology labs. We have also done group presentations where students type into a live document during their presentation and the rest of the class can have access to their presentation notes after class. Additionally, sometimes students ask great questions that I cannot answer immediately. I often give them the netbook immediately when they ask the question and have them look it up on the Internet to share with the class. This kind of immediate follow through with good exploratory questions supports student inquiry and communication.
Given current budget challenges, it is inspiring to see so many people interested in helping our students. We are hoping to acquire one netbook per lab group to increase student collaboration and the sharing of their data. You have started this goal with the donation of our first netbook and we hope this sets us on our path to a few more to put one at the fingertips of each lab group to do and communicate about real science.
Thank you for your generous donations to our Landforms of the Jocko Valley science unit. We have enjoyed building many landforms with the clay and presenting these pieces of artwork to other classes. During our presentations to other students, we compared and contrasted the similarities and differences of these landforms. We are fortunate to have many landforms to observe and study in our valley; from mountains, hills, rivers, valleys, cliffs, waterfall, lakes, and glacier entities.
Playing the science content games has strengthened and deepened our understanding of geology. While using the sand in our trays to observe and manipulate how rivers flow, we get to see how erosion continues to play a part in the formation of our valley.
Without generous donations from people like you, these types of science activities would not be possible for my students.
Thank you very much for your generous donations to our project that have enabled purchasing two flip videos for our students. We are very appreciative of your thoughtfulness and are excited to continue to use these cameras with our kids.
Initially, we had hoped to use these cameras to capture college visits. As we travel across the state each year, visiting college campuses with different grade levels, we wanted to bring back memories from our trip to share with others and for students to have future reference. However, since receiving the cameras, we have not only been able to use them on college visits, but have also used them to record a classroom play performance which was then shared with others and also took the cameras to the State Capitol building to record the happenings of the current legislative session. The cameras are proving to be great additions to our technology supply and the students are enjoying the new twist in the curriculum.
It is truly with great appreciation that I thank you for your support of our school and education.”
My Art classes would like to thank you for your generous donations to our Art Program. The tables that we were able to purchase with the money you donated are fabulous. We have used them to paint, draw, and create ceramic pieces. The tops are adjustable, so each student can create the work space that best suits them while they work. Now, when we walk into our room, there is a sense of artistic creativity. Students are able to sit at a table and work, uninterrupted. Someone erasing at another table does not effect their work. Wonderful. Thank you again.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Toynbee
