• My Students Are My Guitar Heroes!

    Funded Dec 12, 2011

This thank you note is just a small token of my gratitude for your donation to my classrooms. The guitars that you've donated are going to impact many students for years to come. The children in fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades will be using these guitars in the second nine-week period of the school year next year. They are SO excited!

I have taught guitar to the students in my classrooms for the past 3 years and they do absolutely

great at this age. We always play Christmas songs for our concert in December. Just think of the life-long skills they are learning and we have you to thank for it! Many of them go on and take guitar class in high school because of the success they have in our classes.

Without donors like you, who see the need in our schools today, my students wouldn't get

near the pleasure, joy and education that they will be getting now. Thanks a million from all my students and me!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shores

  • Help us Replace our Broken Guitars!!

    Funded Dec 23, 2011

May I express my sincere and profound appreciation for the six bright orange Dreadnaught Rogue guitars you were kind enough to donate to our school. As you can see in the photos posted on the Donors Choose website, my guitarists are making good use of them. Unfortunately the photos from our last concert, where several of these students performed "Hotel California" (with the new Dreadnaughts, were accidentally deleted from a computer. Hopefully these pictures give you a good sense of the enthusiasm of my students. Top left is Marcos, a true character who gets the prize for most performances this year. He also has his own group and is sponsored by a guitar manufacturer. The group photo at top shows (clockwise) Marcos, Katie, Max, Alberto, Derrick, Pablo and Cesar. In the group shot at bottom, I'm giving a lesson on the D Dorian and D blues scales to be used in our performance of "Pass the Peas" (by James Brown's saxophonist, Maceo Parker) in our next concert. The thank-you letters from students were wr”

  • Guitars for Everyone!

    Funded Jan 28, 2012

I am so happy to have this project fully funded! Guitars are such a mainstream and popular instrument today that the students have already flocked to play them in our classroom. Already, for next year, we have over 30 students signed up to take a curricular Guitar Class!

THANK YOU so much for your generosity and support of our high school music program! These instruments will allow more students to participate and experience music in the schools for years to come. As you can tell by the pictures, the students are extremely happy and excited to be playing guitars during school.

THANKS, again for your support of music in our schools! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Brooks

  • Guitar Club needs Guitar Racks

    Funded Nov 17, 2011

We have received the two guitar racks today. The 3rd Grade Guitar Club meet today afterschool and was very excited to see the new racks for them to use. I heard all sorts of comments: "Wow! Our guitars will not have to stay on the floor anymore." "Now my case won't get wrinkled" "My guitar won't get knocked over anymore." These were just a few of the comments I heard from the children.

Thank you for supporting our Guitar Club by providing these guitar racks for us!”

    With gratitude,

  • Rock Guitar Class 1

    Funded Nov 15, 2011

I wanted to say thank you so much for the Bass Guitar you provided for my students. We have completed our "Rock Guitar Class" for 35+ fifth grade students. They all were very eager to play the Bass Guitar. It was exciting to see their successes while learning to play the bass line to "Wild Thing" and "You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog"!

After the 3 week class was over, I had one student ask to join our guitar club. He had never played an instrument before. He attended for the 1st time this past Thursday. Your gift helped inspire him to seek further instruction and join our club!

Your gift has made a difference, Thank you!”

  • Pick Us! Guitar Club is So Much Fun!

    Funded Nov 14, 2011

Thank you so very much for the guitar stands, picks, and tuners. You should have seen my students faces when I told them that we can now use picks in guitar club! They were so excited.

Plus, the amount of time that is saved using the guitar tuners and stands is unbelievable. Usually, the process of unzipping the guitar and tuning it by ear would take half of the class period. Because I had to tune by ear, students needed to stay quite so I could hear - they could not practice strumming or chords. Valuable time was wasted. Now, because the tuner picks of the vibration of each string, students can easily grab a guitar and practice chords along with a video while I walk around with the guitar tuner.

Thank you so much for saving us time and adding excitement to our classroom! ”

    Funded Nov 21, 2011

I cannot begin to tell you about the impact of your donations have made on the students at my school. The guitars that came from this donation have given me the opportunity to expand the group and offer guitar to more students. The impact has been great and will be around for a very long time.

Music is something that all of my students enjoy and the guitar club gives all of my students the opportunity to learn a skill that will last a life time. Your donations have secured this group for years to come.Thank you so much for your donations and support for music education in the public school system!”

  • Guitar Stands for Our Guitars Donated by Littlekidsrock

    Funded Nov 13, 2011

Thank you so much for supporting this project. The guitar stands are going to make our guitars last longer, and increase teaching time since we will not have to end earlier to put the guitars in the gig bags. The students were very happy to hear that we will be having guitar stands. It also shows our students that there are wonderful supportive people out there like you that make a difference in their life. When I tell the students about donorschoose.org, and how there are people that support education, they are very happy to hear this and pleasantly surprised. Thank you once again for supporting this project, and the Arts.”

  • Guitar Amp

    Funded Nov 26, 2011

Thank you so much for all of your help in donating for this amplifier. My students are very excited to be able to finally present all of their work through electronics. It's so nice to know that there are people like you that support the Arts in a big way.

Right now we have quite a lot of guitar students playing on student model acoustic guitars that don't produce the best quality of sound for performances or projects within the classroom. With this amplifier students will now bring in their own electric guitars and perform at a higher level just because of better equipment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Veit

  • We Wanna Strum!

    Funded May 18, 2011

I have 24 guitar students this year, and this week is their fourth lesson. The students have REALLY enjoyed these guitars, and are making great progress. I have a class of fourth graders and a class of fifth graders. Because of your generosity, these students will have something to take with them from this school, the ability to play guitar. Some parents have been so amazed at their student's progress that they went out and bought them their own guitars. What a wonderful gift to give to their child, the gift of music.

Thanks to you all, my students have another outlet. They are off the street and in the classroom doing something that they really love. Thank you so much for all of your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mullins
