On behalf of the thirty four active readers and myself, I would like to send a warm thank you to all that contributed to our project!
As a result of an extended and diverse classroom library my students have an opportunity to dive into a wide variety of genres and books that are relevant to their lives. They have more options in selecting books that appeal to them.
Thank you all! You have all positively affected thirty four lives in a way that will lead to the development of a stronger love for reading.”
Better late than never, right?!? Sorry that it has taken me so long to publish this impact letter and post photos of the results of your generous donations to my Donors Choose project.
The book bins that were purchased through this project are still holding strong, even after 3 years! They have held hundreds of books and survived the moves to and from different classrooms over the last 3 years.
Because you have helped to fund this project, students are able to view books easily and the daily wear-and-tear to the books is minimized when they are held in secure and sturdy bins. This helps to ensure that I have many book choices for years to come!”
It is hard to believe that another group of learners is using the generous donations that you provided! We were so thankful to have received these books and continue to use them in literature circles, guided reading, and read alouds.
I have a new group of students this year who have already commented, "Wow, Ms. Kloepper, you have really nice books!". That is all thanks to your generosity! They especially love the chapter books that they can relate to on a daily basis and have been using their interests to choose the books you provided!”
Thank you so much for your donation. With your help my students have access to leveled books. They are now able to read a variety of rich literature at their appropriate reading level. My students are now exposed to rich vocabulary they can read and feel successful at reading. The more books at their reading level that they read the more books they want! It is so great to be able to give my students multiple opportunities to read books at their level and be able to have them comprehend what they are reading. Most of my students are now reading at first grade level. It is so great to hear them speak about the book they just read and it is even better to see this rich vocabulary being incorporated into their writing. My students love these books so much that they not only use them during guided reading instruction but they take the books to the library to read on their own. At any moment you can walk into my classroom and see my students reading books in the library center or asking to read books from our shelf with a buddy.
It is only with donations from people such as yourself that this would of been possible. Again, Thank you so much for helping my students access leveled books they can read and understand!”
Thank you, thank you, thank you! It is because of donors like you that teachers are able to teach at high levels. Teachers always find themselves "missing" a key component to bringing a lesson to life for their students. Donors Choose has helped to minimize this lack that we often face and we are forever grateful.
Moreover, I wanted to take a minute to tell you how much my students and I appreciate your generous donation to our classroom library. Having a book for each student allows me to take student achievement to new heights. Our new Common Core Standards require that we provide students with the rigor that will produce students who are college bound. I am able to do just that - thanks to you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dixon
This classroom project was brought to life by * and 3 other donors.
It is with GREAT gratitude and admiration that I write this in regards to your donations to my project. When I first started as a middle school teacher I quickly realized that I did not have the appropriate literature for my students. Due to budget cuts my school was not able to provide any for me. I would like to thank you for the wonderful world of reading you have provided for my students.
My students have formed book clubs where they read and discuss the books they are reading. Students who were once considered "reluctant readers" are able to identify their favorite authors and are seeking out other books by these authors. They look forward reading in their groups and often ask to borrow books to take home to read. This is a gift that warms my heart and brightens my students' future.”
Thank you so much for the funding of our project. Because of your generosity, we were able to purchase a class set of the amazing book by Rebecca Skloot "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks."
I have already used this book with my AP Biology students. They were assigned to read the book over our Winter Break. As you can see from the photos, the book was very engaging to the students and they took it with them wherever they ended up on their vacations. One student even commented that the HeLa cells may have gone to the moon, but, the "Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" book went to the top of a mountain.
The assigning of the reading preceded our unit on genetics. The background information that student gained from the reading is definitely evident in their understanding of the concepts we are covering in class.
Upon returning from break, we were able to have a deep and insightful discussion about the ethics that are brought up surrounding the situation covered in the book. We were able to talk about non-science topics within our science classroom.
One of the AP English teachers saw the enthusiasm that students took to this book and we are currently discussing the possibility of doing an integrated unit together.
Thanks again for your generous support of our Science Program.”
Your donation of a class set of Thesauruses has given such joy to my second graders.
Because they have ownership of these books, they are reading them for pleasure. They page through the books and examine words that spark their curiosity. When we use the books as reference tools, my students take pride in knowing how the index helps them study synonyms and antonyms. At writing time, they use the Thesauruses to grapple with multiple meanings. All this helps them to revise and enliven their writing.
Your generosity is building an appreciation of the tone and color of the English word. On behalf of my second graders, I thank you for this gift of learning.”
Thank you so much for your willingness to donate to my students' lives; present and future. It is amazing to know that others in the community care about our kids too. You have no idea how much this will enrich their lives, as well as help them build their vocabulary and ability to connect to the outside world.
When we received the books they were so excited, and even more anxious with anticipation as we opened them for the first time. They love the books that we read in small groups, and this gives them more time one on one with me to take an adventure together with each book.
Again, thank you for your generosity and care for my kids. They are great children and I am proud to be their teacher. It is people like you helping people like me that make the future of these children look even brighter and give them a love for learning. Thank you!”
With gratitude,

This classroom project was brought to life by AKJ Books and one other donor.
Your donations and support have allowed my students to move a step closer to academic excellence; and these new resources have helped strengthen my students' educational foundational. The dictionaries you helped fund are tools that will help my students prepare for the academic challenges they will face in higher education.
The dictionaries have helped my students build a strong academic vocabulary. We use the dictionaries every day as we read and analyze literature, and every day my students are exposed to new words. Your generosity has made a difference. Again, thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Garcia
