The Journey that Saved Curious George (Holocaust)

Funded Oct 16, 2009

I do not have the words to thank you. With your help I was able to buy books for a classroom project. My students were able to learn about prejudice, tolerance, and acceptance. Before this project my students were unaware of the impact of prejudice. Students learned about a World War II, and how it changed the course of history. I encouraged my students to view the issue of freedom from a different perspective. They were able to value the freedom that we have in this country and realized how easily it can be taken away. Most importantantly they were able to think critically about diversity, both religious and cultural. Students learned to accept eachother's differences, and more importantly to accept who they are. They also learned an important lesson from the book Number the Stars, we can all make a difference.

Be sure that your generosity has made a huge impact on the life of my student's. My student's especially enjoyed the book that depicted the life of the authors Margaret and H.A. Rey. We created posters and traced their voyage through Europe, South and North America. Students were especially surprised to discover that had it not been for this voyage they would have probably never known the character of Curious George.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have made a difference in the lives of my students. They are grateful for your kindness and willingness to give to someone that you do not know. Every bit counts, thanks you helping me make the world a little better. Education is the key to the future.”

With gratitude,
