Reading & Writing and Rocks, Oh My!!

So many times schools focus on the times when children are naughty, break the rules, or do not meet our expectations. We focus too much time and resources on those children. At our school, we believe in recognizing students who are making good choices. This often proves difficult, however, due to a lack of financial resources. Your donation has helped our school in our end of the year celebration of students who make good decisions.

Many students have commented on how they look forward to this assembly and the fact that people are paying attention to their positive actions. They comment on how they are consciously thinking about the importance of following the rules and being a good citizen.

These have been a wonderful cheerful to our classroom library!  The students love to sit in them and get lost in a book.  What a great motivator to be able use comfy chairs to read in the library for positive behavior and achievements.  We also take turns using them for our literacy circles.  The students didn't like the idea of taking turns and I was told to order some more!

We can't thank you enough!  Our classroom struggles with reading and can use all the motivation in this area we can get!  This was a huge one, thank you very much!

We have all enjoyed singing with this wonderful karaoke machine!! When I hook this up to the LCD projector everyone of the students get so into every song. It is so much fun to watch! Sometimes I am so into singing myself, I forget to watch! The students really have improved their fluency and one student has almost gotten over her fear of talking/singing in front of a group!

The karaoke machine has added so much to our class and will continue to add more and more fun and excitement each year for reading and singing. Everyday the students beg me to karaoke, they love it!!!

We can't thank you enough. School should be a place where children want to go to learn and we have to continue to come up with fun and innovative ideas to keep them motivated about education! Thank you for caring about my class, you have truly made a difference in some special little lives!”

This is just a small token of gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The supplies you donated helped not only my class but the entire grade learn and experience how people lived during the Colonial times. They learned to make butter, dip candles, weave on a loom and play games from that era. The supplies will be used not only this year but also in years to come for many more students.

Our school is facing budget cuts and larger class sizes. Many of the extra learning activities would not be possible without your help. Learning how other people lived without many of the luxuries we enjoy will help my students become more grateful for what they have.

This is amazing!!! Thank you very much! I am so excited my students get to go home at the end of the year equipped with this incredible book! They love it! They truly are amazing children with resiliency that is astounding. I know your donation is going to allow these children to not only have access to this wonderful book, but they will also remember somebody cared enough about them to make sure they had it for the rest of their lives.

The addition of this laptop and donated printer to our classroom has been wonderful! My students have been able to use it for bank day; actually printing up "bank statements" for deposits and withdraws of scholar dollars. They now have a printed copy of their balance and are learning what happens when you spend all your scholar dollars or if you save.

We have also used the laptop for looking up virtual math manipulatives, stories online, fossil recreation online, and I am sure we are going to discover so much more.

The students are thrilled they have a resource they have access to right in their classroom. Thank you so much for your donation and for caring about educating our students! You have truly made a difference!”

We have had so much fun with all of these wonderful, hands-on materials!! The student's loved watching the crystal trees grow; they practically grew within a day! The rocks arrived right in time for our unit on rocks and we went to town! They had an absolute ball looking, touching, feeling and comparing them. The fossils were fabulous to see which era they came from and such.

But, WOW the rock tumbler was the star of the show! They all brought in rocks from the street, from the playground, from grandma's house, from the store parking lot... We went through the complete cycle, and when we were done we polished them up (although some had turned to sand) and the students will remember how some changed to different kinds of rocks or some changed to a mineral. It was fantastic!! We are saving the volcano for the last week of school, the students are excited! Thank you again, they will always remember this!”
