Words cannot express how happy my students are with our new document camera. The camera has made an impact both in my classroom as well as after school during meetings for our literary magazine, The Hornets' Hive.
For starters, the document camera works wonders in the classroom. It makes going over homework an efficient and accurate process. With help from the camera, we project the homework sheet up on the Smartboard, and either the students or I can write answers as we go through them. Being able to see the answers projected on the huge screen assures me that the kids can accurately see what they need to have on their paper. We also use the camera to project notes sheets during class discussions and to put up sample student work. For instance, if we are working on writing the answer to an open response question, we can use the camera to project the sample answer onto the Smartboard, and edit it/highlight parts of it as a class. Finally, I like to use picture books to reinforce grammar and literary concepts like apostrophes and voice/point of view. It's so much better to be able to take a picture of the pages of the book and show it on the big screen so that all can see!
Of course, we use the document camera for The Hornets' Hive. We have cut the time that it takes to scan the pictures by about 80-90%! This means we can spend more time working with the layout of the pieces, and we can actually include more artwork because it doesn't take as long to scan them. The kids also have an easier time seeing it at the same time projected on a Smartboard rather than having to pass each piece around and remember what it looked like. All in all, it has really increased the efficiency of our club, so we can't thank you enough!
It's really amazing that a group of people would come together to help my students out with this purchase. Your generosity will not be forgotten.”
Thank you so much for your support! These materials will greatly help out in teaching 6th grade World Geography. The students last year really enjoyed reading contemporary books that take place in other countries, and this project will add to the classroom collection of this genre. The maps will, of course, help students to gain a better understanding of their place in the world.
We are very appreciative of the value you place on education, particularly geography education. It is people like you who make a difference in education. It is so helpful to have more resources to teach a challenging topic like world geography with 195 countries to learn!”
Thank you all so much for your generous donations to our classroom. My students and I are very fortunate to be in a district with such supportive families and friends who continue to give to our school.
This new software has been a great addition to our classroom. Our current 6th graders have been working with it since September. This software helps to show how closely related math and science are and how important they both are to my students' success both inside and outside of school. In addition, the screens are bright and colorful and full of fun, interactive activities for my students.
Thank you all once again for supporting the students at QMS!”
Thank you for your generous contributions to my classroom. Having the new whiteboards and markers to start the year was very exciting. Students are able to use the boards while trying new lessons, practicing a skill, or to answer questions during activities such as jeopardy.
Donors Choose has been a great resource. I have been able to add something new to the classroom that makes learning more enjoyable for my students. Lessons become more engaging when the students are having fun.
Thank you so much for the funding of my project. The purchase of this document viewer/camera with work wonders for making materials come alive in my Life Science classroom.
Science is best taught with lots and lots of actual, first-hand viewing and experiencing. Often it is difficult for whole groups to see one-of-a-kind documents, demonstrations or experiments up close but with such a document viewer all this can be displayed on a computer screen and therefor on the SmartBoard.
The tools you have helped purchase will enable students to learn through example and see real science, up close and personal.
Thank you all so much for your generous donations to our classroom! It is wonderful to see so many individuals supporting public education.
The classroom materials you have funded have helped my students to master some difficult topics while playing fun, small and large group games. My students love to play games and they have truly enjoyed playing the many games that you helped contribute to our classroom. Thanks to all of you they arrived well before the end of the school year and my students have been able to practice and hone their skills in a variety of different math topics.”
With gratitude,
Ms. GOFFE
