  • Going Green

    Funded Feb 20, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. The books were a great addition to our Earth Day celebration. Students continue to read them again and again. They are sharing their new found concepts about reduce, reuse, recycle with their friends and families.

Our school continues to facing budget shortfall, so without your help, would not have these valuable resources. This helps the classroom keep up to date with the current issue of being informed and responsible citizens of the environment.

Again, without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Basic Skills Tools for a Special Education Learning Center

    Funded Mar 2, 2010

I am writing to thank you for your generous contribution to our school's learning center. As one of the school's special education teachers, I support students in general education classrooms who are eligible for special education services under many different eligibilities. When I began my job this year, my classroom contained only a few older board games. There were no books, math manipulatives, or reading materials.

My students range from kindergarten through eighth grade, and it is imperative that I have a wide array of materials and activities in order to reach students of so many different capabilities and developmental levels. In my job, the best days are those in which students finally "get it," and the materials you provided offer another opportunity for this to happen. It is a wonderful thing to be able to reach over and take something off the shelf when a teachable moment happens.

I am truly grateful for your support of our learning center classroom. I am humbled that you chose to contribute to students who need extra support and alternative ways to approach problems and tackle academic tasks. I use the items you helped to purchase every day, and our students are the real beneficiaries.

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Oregon Literature

    Funded Feb 3, 2010

It was like Christmas when I opened my box of books. I was so eager to begin to read the literature on The Oregon Trail. The new updated books for my classroom have really helped my students to become engaged in the social studies unit on Oregon.

The enthusiasm the students show as they use the books is so much fun. They are truly shocked that there did not use to be electricity. Some of my students have said they can't believe the kids on The Trail did not have video games. The vibrant and colorful pictures really help to bring history to life for the kids, especially those who are English Language Learners.

Once again, thank you so much for using some of your resources to help a school in Oregon. I look forward to teaching The Oregon Trail unit again and again using the beautiful books I have received from your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tammen-Jensen
