It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Let's See The World Using Maps

    Funded Dec 13, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class. The atlases, maps and globes that you donated have helped my students travel the world. We have spent the past several weeks studying the continent of Africa. My students have used the atlases to label and color a map of Africa, identify landforms and plot distances.

They have used the maps to give them a clearer picture of where our school is located in relationship to Africa and the rest of the world. All the materials have been used on almost a daily basis the past several months as we have also visited Europe and now Africa.

My school is facing a budget shortfall, so without your help my students would never have had access to these materials. It is important for them to expand their knowledge of the world.

Without your assistance this would not have been possible. Thanks again. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gilreath-Golub

  • Children with Special Needs in Preschool Need Your Help

    Funded Nov 30, 2009

I am so grateful for the donation you provided for my classroom! My students are currently using the hands-on materials you provided in my Science Center! They look with amazement through our telescope, use our magnetic weather board to match the weather outside, learn about healthy foods as they set up pretend food in plates, observe details of real insect specimen, explore planets as they solve a flour puzzle, and learn about the life cycle of a frog as they complete the puzzle! These materials will be used every year in my classroom! My children with special needs feel very successful as they explore with the materials you provided! Thank you so much again!! :-)”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Patel

  • Creative Children in Crisis!

    Funded Nov 28, 2009

Thank you so much for the donation you have made to my classroom! You have made a huge difference in the lives of many children in Illinois!

With your donation, we were able to expand our supplies from basic pencils and paper to paints, shown in the pictures attached, canvases, charcoal, charcoal paper and weaving looms. My students were really excited to learn about the donation, and even more excited to use the materials.

Personally, I am most excited about the paints and ten canvases. With those canvases, I will choose ten students to create special paintings for our upcoming annual Fine Arts Open House. At the Open House, the paintings will be auctioned off, to raise money for the Art department and our dwindling budget. It is great to see these students create something special that they can be proud of and will help their school.

I encourage you to continue to support classrooms around America, as many children are in need of additional resources to improve their education. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bailey

  • PowerPoint and Multimedia Presentations, Oh My!

    Funded Dec 1, 2009

Thank you so much for your generosity. Words can not express how thankful we are (my students and I) for the beautiful ASUS laptop computer that your donations have provided. As you can see from the pictures, my students, in all of my classes, are already putting the laptop to use with presentations as well as online research.

As you know, I teach in a high-poverty and high-needs school, so something as simple as a laptop computer can really make a huge difference in my students education. Many of my students don't have computers at home, so this will add to their exposure to technology. This will be integral to their success in college.

Again, thank you from the depth of my spirit. Know that your gift will continue to give for years and classes to come. In addition, it is because of magnanimous donors ,like yourselves, that my students are one step closer to the education that they deserve.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. King

  • Won't you be, my LCD?

    Funded Nov 19, 2009

Seeing this project get funded has been one of the great joys of our school year. Your generosity is so inspiring to all of us here. My colleagues are thrilled: another LCD projector means more flexibility in our planning and more technology in the classroom. Our science teacher did a victory dance when she heard the great news.

Our students LOVE technology and are considerably more engaged when working with new software. These are the kinds of resources that matter when trying to close the achievement gap. It really helps to bring life into the math classroom and will certainly lead to an increase in achievement.

What an awesome experience. What's particularly striking is how donors came from all across the country. I cannot adequately express how much your gift means to our community. Thank you very much. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G.
