  • A Printer Please!

    Funded Oct 29, 2012

Thank you all so much for your donations that contributed to the printer for my classroom.

It came at such an important time as we have just finished our unit on the science fair. A lot of my students do not have access to printers outside of school so we were able to print their lab reports and materials for their board to make them look professional and well done.

The printer has also been a instrumental part of instruction. As you can imagine, things pop up during the day and students, teachers and administration need paper copies of documents. With the printer in my classroom, small crises have been adverted.

Thank you again for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White-Clark

  • Respiration, Digestion, Excretion, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 3, 2012

This is just a very small token of my deep appreciation and gratitude for your heartfelt and generous donation to my classroom. We used every single item during our science unit. They especially liked doing experiments and investigations. The resources you provided helped all my students develop a deeper understanding of concepts that can be very abstract and difficult to understand.

Our science unit was so educational and above all very exciting. We used the hands-on manipulatives to visualize the organs and their functions. We used the games for review and reinforcement of concepts. I used the teacher resources to plan engaging lessons and experiments. The students loved looking forward to science time and what we were going to do next. Their love of the sciences was truly deepened and enhanced. As a teacher, this was truly a wonderful gift to see being developed in them.

At a time when schools are struggling financially and making deep cuts in student resources, without your help, my students would have never had these vital resources. I want to thank you for making learning so exciting and for helping me make such a difference in their educational journeys.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Caicedo-Garcia

  • Classroom Pet

    Funded Nov 28, 2012

Thank you for your support with our science class. The students were to excited to open the box and see the aquarium. They took everything out and wanted to put it together right away. So, we put it together as a class.

Thank you for the generous donation of the aquarium and filters. We truly appreciate all your support to help with students education.

None of my students had a pet fish before. This will help with our science program and they will learn responsiblity. Thank you for all your help and support to my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fimbres

  • Teaching Real Science Through Microbiohacking

    Funded Oct 22, 2012

Thank you all for your generous donation. Your donations have already made a significant impact on how my students explore science. They are developing and implementing experiments that they find interesting and they have a major role in their science education. The biggest hurdle we have had so far is changing the mindset of my students from an "earning a grade" to an "exploring and learning" mindset. Having donors like you, have helped them realize that many believe in this model of education and some have quickly embraced the independent aspect of learning and many are slowly coming around to believing that not everything must be associated with a grade. We have been teaching science that always ends with a concrete result. We typically use kits to run experiments with a definite result that are pretty black and white. In this class, students are learning that science is not always cut and dry and negative data do not indicate bad data, and that all data is important. They are also learning that science can sometimes be a long process and they might not produce the results that they want by the end of the school year. It completely changes their thinking from running formulaic kits where results are always positive and experiments are completed in one week and possibly in a single day. Using the resources that you have provided students are developing the important critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as perseverance and ingenuity that are important in all aspects of life and not just science. I truly believe that the resources you have provided will develop the next generation of thinkers and innovators. Due to the growing popularity of this class, next year we will have several new sections and the resources that you have provided will impact more students. I am very excited for what is yet to come. Again, thank you all so much for your positive impact on my students lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kang
