For several years I have grown mustaches and facial hair for no other reason than they're fun. Now it's time to give back! That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. (By the way, DonorsChoose.org is a 501(c)3 charity. See below for approvals from Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau.)
What a great thing it is to give and invest in the lives our young people. This is the first time our class has been awarded a grant or any gift in support of higher learning. It has been an exhilarating and wonderful experience to watch our bar graph drawn on the board grow toward our goal as givers like yourselves provided hope and sent a message that people do care!
I always stress my class the importance of education, character and vision to achieve life goals. In our Interactive Media class we do more than just dream and record, we express our inner selves and report on the things, events and people we deem critical to our growth. In addition, we analyze films for aesthetic value in an attempt to better understand the director's impact statement to the world.
Now with your help we have a tool important to our comprehension; a TV able to produce in vivid high definition the thoughts, impressions and visions of the groups of young people enrolled in my class. With this TV they may now see themselves as clearly as we see their future!
Moreover, it is my hope my kids will see the direct impact of giving and that with this action and more to follow that they will become future philanthropists.
Thank you so very much for your generous donations to our classroom. My students and I have enjoyed receiving and reading these great new books on a daily basis!
Every day, for 10-15 minutes a day, my kids participate in self selected reading. Since we've gotten all of these awesome books, they have been so much more engaged and excited to read! They even ask if they can read all period long! Prior to getting these books, SSR time was sometimes met with sighs and groans because there simply weren't enough "good books" to go around. Thanks to your generosity and selflessness, every student in all of my classes not only has one good book to read every day, but even has a list of good books that they want to read in the future.
I cannot thank you enough for donating to my students. Sometimes all a child needs is to know that someone cares about and believes in him/her, and you have given this to my students. You have made everyday in our classroom MUCH easier. We no longer have to scramble for pencils and crayons to complete our work. My students can now focus on their assignments without the worry of not having the supplies they need. With our new scissors and glue, we are able to do lots of cut and paste activities. Not only do we love to cut and paste, but is very important for our fine motor development! Again, thank you very much for your generous donation. It is people like you who give students like mine opportunities they would otherwise miss out on.”
I really do apologize for the delay of this letter. I am currently out of the country due to a family emergency. Our class would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your generosity in providing us a new carpet. My student were more than excited to see and use our new and unsoiled carpet where we normally hold most of our class discussions, small group activities, and even a napping area. Having a new carpet really made a difference with my classroom instruction, my students now have a clean place to sit on which takes away one of my concerns. For this, we thank you all!”
I cannot tell you what an impact these pencil sharpeners have made at my school. I am a hit! I am the teacher that let's students sharpen their own pencils and I can with these machines because they are built for heavy use. I recently had to take care of the entire first grade (54 students), all three classes, and each student got to sharpen two pencils. I am now their favorite teacher!
With budget cuts and the slow economy we have to make every dollar count and there is no money for even the basic needs in the classroom. Sharpeners are not glamorous items but they are much needed ones. Through Donors Choose fantastic people like you can make a positive impact to students everywhere and I am blessed that you have chosen my little ones. They not only get a kick out of sharpening their own pencils they love having the best ones in the school and they never miss a chance to brag! They really get the idea that there are people that they have never met that care about them and they were excited to write their thank you notes (even though they aren't very good at writing yet).
When you are sitting with your family enjoying the holiday know that there are little ones out there that love you and are getting quite a thrill every morning! And there is a teacher that appreciates the kindness of others. Thank you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wiseman
