  • A Living Scrapbook of My Education

    Funded Feb 2, 2009

I just wanted to write you a note to tell you what a difference your donation to our "Living Scrapbook of My Education" Donor's Choose Project has made in our students' project presentations.  Your donation of a DVD duplicator, along with the DVDs, labels, and cases makes it even more special for our students to receive their own DVD copy of their theme-based project video portfolios.  These cumulative portfolios are priceless to each of the families as well as in our own staff research practices.

Our 5th grade students will receive their portfolios at the end of this (and future) school year(s) and be recognized for their accomplishments.  This DVD will help the students and parents reflect back on the child's accomplishments and help them to identify their individual strength areas based on Howard Gardner's theory of the 8 multiple intelligences which is at the core of our school philosophy.

I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures of our students following their theme-based project presentations.  You can see how proud they are of their accomplishments.  Your donation has made a huge difference to the children and their families, not to mention the improved efficiency of my own job in providing them with these DVD portfolios.  Thank you once again on behalf of all our students and staff.  Without people like you, it would never be possible.    ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. A.

  • Dancing For The Soul

    Funded Dec 20, 2008

Thank you so much for your donation. It means so much to me and my students. These materials will make a huge difference in my classroom. It has been so hard to teach technology standards without the technology being available to my students. With this donation they will be able to get hands-on experience. I am extremely excited to be able to give my students the opportunity to learn about technology through this project.

    Thanks again,

    Jeanett”

  • Dear Journal: I Love This Journal!

    Funded Oct 23, 2008

Thank you for your commitment to my students! My students use the school-issued journals every day, but your gift of new journals will really enhance their experience. Now my students will take more pride in their journals and work harder to keep them neat. Helping students to take pride in their work is a good lifelong habit that will improve their chances of success in other classes and in life. I am so grateful that you took the initiative to help my students feel more successful with these beautiful journals. Thank you again!

  • Stamp It Out!!!

    Funded Jul 2, 2008

Thank you so much for your help with funding my "Stamp It Out" project. As a public education teacher I spend numerous dollars each year out of my own pocket and sometimes have to draw a line. It makes it that more special to know that individuals like you care about these children also. I assure you, your donation will be used and enjoyed by numerous children for years to come. The children will benefit greatly from this new center. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nissa ”

  • Support Young Historians' Study of the African Burial Ground

    Funded Mar 31, 2008

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just breathed a huge sigh of relief when I received the email saying that this proposal has been funded. My kids have been studying the African Burial Ground for 2 months now and have interviewed six experts in person, as well as visiting the site and reading articles about it. They are getting ready to write their own book about the Burial Ground and having their own copy of Breaking Ground, Breaking Silence will be a TREMENDOUS help. They'll use it to check information, look at photographs, and think of ways to organize their own book. They frequently pick up our one classroom copy and I know that they will be absolutely thrilled to have their own individual copies. Thank you so much for contributing to my students' work as historians”

  • All the World is a Stage When You're a Drama Queen

    Funded Mar 31, 2008

Thank you SO much for fulfulling my classroom's proposal for us! I am so surprised and so happy!I was beginning to think that it was a lost cause, and getting my e-mail from Donors Choose today has totally made my day. Thank you for being so kind and so helpful! I have been wanting costumes for my class for so many years and just haven't been able to get them with my own money. My classes love to dress up and do dramatic play and it adds so much to our themes we study. The students are just going to love it. Thank you SO very much for your kindness. I am so grateful!
