Hello and welcome to my Giving Page. If you have become a fan of my blog and are interested in helping my kids develop into fantastic students, you're in the right place!
Homework and learning abounds in the classroom these days! The resources you gave to my class have helped immensely - I have been able to give them fun and engaging work during every school break that keeps them learning even when they aren't in the classroom. The kids really enjoy reading the science stories and it's helping them so much on their standardized tests. I've seen remarkable improvement in the kids because of the practice that they're getting!
They love the math boxes, which is really helping them with word problems. I spent a couple of days working with them just on word problems from the boxes and now they're flying through their word problems! Thank you so very much!
I can't begin to tell you how helpful these books have been for the class! They really needed the chance to have fun and engaging homework during breaks. They are enjoying the different worksheets and learning so much! Thank you so much for your help and support!”
The kids are so enjoying the fairy tales that you sent! They were so excited when I unpacked the box and begged me to read them a story immediately. I haven't seen this kind of enthusiasm from them in a while - they normally enjoy reading, but to see them so excited was quite a treat.
We read Cinderella Skeleton first and they loved being able to participate (each stanza begins with "Cinderella Skeleton"). I think they forgot for a little while that they were "too cool for school 5th graders" because they were having so much fun with the story! They enjoy comparing and contrasting the new fairy tales with the stories they already know and love.
These books have given me tons of new lessons to use with the class, from different rhyme patterns in poetry to comparing and contrasting stories, and is helping motivate them to read more fairy tales and fantasy stories. They love reading and these books are a great collection for them to explore. Thank you so much for providing this amazing resource to my class!”
Thank you so much for helping this project become a reality! The kids have been begging me for new math books for months now - it's so great to see them excited about reading! After math tests, I like to have them read math books, since it's a quiet activity that can be done individually and keeps them occupied while other students are still finishing the test. However, it was getting to the point last year that I couldn't find a single book in my collection that my kids hadn't read! Thank you so much for giving my class this invaluable resource!
I can't get them to stop reading now! They are constantly quizzing to try to change their books for one of the new math books! It's great to see them so enthused about reading. AND they're learning math skills too!
Thank you so very much for your generous support!”
I recently announced to the class our latest reading project - getting to do an extended study on a novel, complete a project on the novel and then, as a reward for all the hard work, getting to watch the movie based off the book! The class was so excited - they competed to win the chance to study the book. I have never seen them more motivated to read. My highest reading group got to start on Inkheart on the first day. They wouldn't put it down! When it was time to start writing rather than reading, they begged me to let them read just one more chapter. I had a sub the next day, and even the sub commented that they would have preferred reading Inkheart to doing any of their other tasks. All of the kids have asked to take the books home to read and it's all I can do to get them to complete their other classwork. This is one of the greatest reading projects I've started yet. Thank you so much!
Thanks to your generous donation, I'm able to motivate the kids to go even further into the books that they are reading and expand their critical thinking skills. They are working on analyzing the text and will be answering in-depth discussion questions as they work through the book. The motivation to get to spend class time watching a movie has gotten them intrigued - the fact that they're enjoying the books is just an added perk to them! They are fascinated with the stories and we're able to work on vocabulary development and reading strategies in a manner that intrigues the class. Rather than a humdrum text book, the kids are using their reading skills in literature that truly interests them! Thank you so much for your generous donation!”
I can't even begin to explain the excitement felt in the classroom when the box of books arrived from Barnes and Noble. Fascinated by history and geography, my class couldn't wait to start reading the new books. This provided me with great incentive for their reading quizzes - whenever they got 100%, they could pick out a brand-new book to read. They were thrilled! I saw huge improvements in their reading scores - amazing what a little incentive will do! The kids never stopped reveling in the new facts they were learning - telling their peers, me and anyone else they could get to listen to them all about what they had learned about different countries. They begged me to extend reading class so they could have a few more minutes to read!
Thank you so much for making this project a reality for my class. It really means "the world" to them!”
I can't tell you how much these supplies have helped out my classroom! It has been wonderful to get organized and have crates to keep everything in. Additionally, having some extra supplies to replenish the things my students use every day has been wonderful. They were so excited to get new pencils and sharpeners - that was the first thing they all asked for! Now I no longer have to stop teaching in order to help children find pencils to use for assignments.
The extra playing pieces and money have also been absolutely essential. All the different supplies are already getting used, and will be so useful in the future as more pieces go missing or get used up. Thank you so much for giving us the materials we desperately needed to keep working!”

Thank you all so much for getting us this phenomenal resource for the class. Having music in the classroom has made it much more peaceful and orderly. The kids love listening to the School House Rock songs. Playing them during work time gives the kids a set amount of time to work and helps keep me on track with time. As they are getting to know the songs, they are able to predict how long they have to work and budget their time accordingly. I give them "2 songs" to finish a page in their workbook, and as they know they are reaching the end of the last song, they work hard to get it all done on time.
I'm excited to load up the iPod and set up the iHome so we can use the songs to help us transition in our work. I have some classical music I'm going to play during reading. This way, they will be able to time their work again, but also will have some great, soothing music to keep them on track. Thank you for helping provide this awesome resource for the classroom! The kids love having music throughout their day!”
Thank you so very much for your generous donations! They have helped provide my class with invaluable resources for them to read and research about their favorite animals. My class was so excited to see the new books. They can't wait to start reading them. Having such great resources available has really helped me motivate them to read and take quizzes on their current books so they can get one of the new books. Since we are in the midst of our research and report writing unit, the books arrived at the perfect time! The class is able to read books on their favorite animal, then take notes and write a synopsis of the book and what they've learned. They are so excited and I am so happy to have these resources within my classroom so I can give them this learning experience. Thank you so much for making this project a reality! We couldn't have done it without you!”
Thank you so much for providing my students with this amazing opportunity to explore a new facet of science and make their learning more authentic. So far, the class has been able to create a thematic unit - we've studied volcanoes in reading, written reports about them in writing, incorporated it into our study of geography, and of course are able to explore how volcanoes impact different science studies. My students have learned a lot about how to research and explore a topic, write a report, prepare a presentation, and now they are learning about how to build a volcano using the models you gave us! They'll continue to explore how volcanoes influence the world around them and impact the ecosystem. They'll use their knowledge from physical and chemical properties to make those models explode. And through all of this, they'll have a solid foundation of knowledge that will carry through their years of education. They'll be able to apply all the skills and knowledge that they've learned to other subjects! Thank you so much for inspiring this great thematic unit!”
I can't begin to thank you for the amazing gift you have given to my students. I can't get them to stop reading the biographies long enough to pay attention to the lessons! Many of my students begged to take the books home over Spring Break so they could continue reading and researching. The books have opened up a whole new set of questions about the history surrounding these historical figures. They are really enjoying exchanging books with each other and telling me new facts that they have learned. I love the fact that I've been able to introduce them to new historical figures that they normally don't explore in our curriculum - Walt Disney, Queen Elizabeth, King Tut, Houdini and Anne Frank to name a few. While my students know a lot about select historical figures, like Martin Luther King, Jr., they are astounded to learn more about different times in history. Watching their faces light up as they explore their books is so rewarding. Thank you so much for providing this amazing opportunity for my students. You've expanded their learning so much and opened a whole new world of research and interest for them!”
