It is with mixed emotions that I am participating in Mustaches for Kids. That's right, for the next four weeks, I will be subjecting myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous looking Mustache. In order to justify this endeavor I need your support. Please sponsor my Mustache by picking a classroom project from the list below to support. And wish me and my Mustache luck. • Helpful in Health

    Funded Apr 20, 2010

Thank you so much for your consideration in funding the "Helpful in Health Project." We appreciate your kindness and support. These highschool students are so motivated to get out in to the real world to practice direct patient care and the supplies we received will be a great chance for them to experience first hand equipment used today in the medical field. These student graduated on May 30th and 12 out of 15 have successfully completed the required studies and are now Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's). They were so excited that some one thought enough of them to support their hard work and success. We always need people like you and owe all the gratitude we can offer.

    Sincere thanks

  • Biology Without Dissection? Ridiculous!

    Funded Mar 30, 2010

From my students and myself, we want to thank you sincerely for your generosity! We have received and used our new dissection tools already, and our experience has been one of great learning and fun! So far, this project has impacted the science education of 8 night school students, and will be used by the regular day classes this coming week!

The students who used the tools today had the opportunity to dissect and explore the anatomy and inner workings of perch. The students were taught how to use the tools properly, and taught the procedure for dissecting the fish. Then, the students in small groups followed their lab manuals and utilized the utmost care and respect for the animals. The students learned so much, and their enthusiasm and engagement is evident in the photos. I only wish you could have seen and heard them, it was the culminating event of our night school class!

My students, seniors, have not had the opportunity to dissect and see anatomy hands-on. Some of them are college bound, and really benefited from this process. Others also benefited, and are more connected with nature and the things we share with fellow creatures. It was a great project, and we will definitely be using our tools in the future!

In conclusion, we could not tell you enough how grateful we are for your support. Without you, students such as mine would be losing out on wonderful opportunities that every student should have, regardless of their school's location and economic status. Thank you kindly for your support, and we hope you continue to help classrooms such as ours who need it!”

    With gratitude,

  • Worms!

    Funded Mar 3, 2010

My class is having a ball with the worms you donated to our class! We have learned so much information by studying our worms. Our third grade class is now able to hold a worm and identify the different parts of an earthworm and have conversations using the correct anatomical terminology. My students have researched the different types of food that the worms need in order to survive and thrive in their worm bin habitat. After trial and error, we concluded that our worms do not like orange rinds from our lunch room. We learned how to create a habitat that creates life-giving nutrients to our worms. My students have been cleaning out the bin once a week looking for compost to place in our cabbage patch.

Thank you so much for helping to create an on-going hands-on learning experience for my students, it is amazing to listen to my students converse about the worms! Your donation has truly made a positive impact in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • It’s the Little Things That Often Get Overlooked

    Funded Feb 19, 2010

The dictionary is a simple tool which helps us to pronounce, respell and the grammars we need to collaborate within in a communication. It gives meaning to those words which cannot be understood. It also teaches the reader on the proper syllabication and pronunciation of the word It also give the reader on how the words in a sentence used. These are all crucial skills that need to be learned and mastered while in school.

We want to thank everyone who donated to our project. This means a lot to my current students and will mean a lot to my future students. Because of your donations, my class is provided with a tool that will enable them to be better learners, writers and researchers!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Metts
