  • Robotics Lab: Imagine, Design, Create

    Funded Dec 1, 2012

We are a first year robotics club building on the premise of: imagine, design, and create. With your generous contributions, we have established a solid foundation for our robotics club.

Using this basic robotics kit my students can explore essential programming and automation concepts, sensor functions, and experience hands on construction, ultimately seeing their programs in action.

There are no computer science courses currently offered in our district and the activities of our robotics club offer these students an opportunity to use and experience technology well beyond word processing and making PowerPoints. In addition, we integrate engineering processes into our activities: start from a problem, imagine a solution, design a solution, and then build the solution. The combination of practical computer science and basic engineering skills is a small step for these students on pathways to careers where technology and daily actions overlap.

Your support provides the hardware which makes the opportunity for all this to happen!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Huff

  • Games Programming Class Needs an XBox

    Funded Dec 18, 2012

Thank you so much for the Xbox. We are getting very close to the point in the course when we will be writing our own projects and the students are already excited about being able to put their own games on the Xbox so that they can see them work.

We are working very hard at learning about programming and especially about programming games. The students have been surprised to learn how much skill it takes to make it game. They are also learning that gaming has many different facets to it, not just making games to entertain.

    Again, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher
