  • Here Comes the Band

    Funded Feb 3, 2011

The mere words Thank You do not seem quite enough for your generosity. Since receiving our band instruments the children have had the opportunity to create various rhythmic patterns, which has supported such math concepts as counting, and patterns. The children have also learned the names of all of the percussion instruments within the donation package, and have shared their musical genius with some of the staff and their peers from other classrooms.

Moreover, the instruments have added a element of joy and excitement to our classroom. We tend to use them during morning meeting, which has played an integral part in motivating the children throughout the day, especially those students who need inspiration to start the day.

This aspect of learning could not have been possible without your kindness and support.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Crawford

  • Around The World

    Funded Feb 8, 2011

Thank you so much for the wonderful world rug. The rug looks amazing in the classroom and I can not tell you how excited my students were when it arrived. They have a new found energy and excitement during social studies. They love finding the continents and countries we are learning about on the rug. This is an amazing resource because now all my students can see the world map at the same time.

It takes an extremely generous person to donate to a group of students you have never met. You are all an inspiration to me, my students and others. We can not thank you enough for this amazing gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edge

  • Learn the Map While Having a Seat!

    Funded Feb 11, 2011

Thank you all so very much for your incredibly generous donations! We are so excited to finally have a colorful, educational, and welcoming place to sit in our classroom! Every teacher who has walked in has been full of compliments for how much that carpet makes the classroom a better place. The students love taking turns sitting on the different continents and oceans around the floor. I can see a definite improvement in the quality of teaching I am able to do, as the students now have a comfortable place to sit in the room.

We've also been able to use the rug to increase our worldly knowledge. We have done a few lessons about geography and different cultures around the world using the rug and other materials. It is great to have such a large educational tool that all of the students can see and use at once!

It is because of generous people like you that public schools are able to continue having amazing educational opportunities for their students. Without your generous funding, there is no way we could have afforded this (or many other) educational tool! Thank you again so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ahrens

  • Bringing Out the Artist

    Funded Feb 5, 2011

Thank you so much for your very kind and generous donation of the Cricut Machine for our classroom. The cricut machine is such an asset to the classroom. We have used it to decorate the bulletin boards, students have cut their names, cut out different shapes and have made beautiful decorative books. The possibilities are endless!

The students get so excited when they find out we are going to create an art project with the machine. They all want to use it.

The students are so amazed at your generosity. They keep asking me, " Mrs. K how come they gave it to us for free?" They must be very nice people and they don't even know us". I tell them, " yes you are right. They are nice people and they don't even know us. Can you believe that? There are a lot of good people in the world who believe in helping others even if they don't know them.

We are having important conversations about why it's important to help others. As a result, our class is making paper cranes to send to Japan. For every paper crane they make, $2.00 will be donated to Japan. Our class has learned a valuable lesson about giving to others. Thank you so very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Keefe

  • Practice Makes Perfect

    Funded Jan 31, 2011

Thank you all so very much for your generous donation to our classroom. Without your donations we would not have a word wall in our classroom. The students use the word wall and word cards throughout the day in all aspects of our curriculum. They also take the word cards home and practice with thier families. The word wall as well as the word cards have helped the students learn how to read and write their high frequency words and they are getting ready for first grade!

With all of the budget cuts in education and at our school in particular, my students would have struggled to learn and practice their words without your help. Thank you so much! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Joughin

  • Yearning for Learning in the 21st Century

    Funded Jan 23, 2011

Thank you all so much for your generous donation! The document camera has been very useful so far in our classroom. We have used it to demonstrate different learning processes, to highlight student work, and simply to project an assignment for the students to view. Everyone loves getting a chance to put their hands under the camera and see them projected on the board. It really is a wonderful tool to get students excited, as well as a practical tool to increase student learning.

As a public school teacher in a very underfunded school system, I appreciate so very much donations from people like you for classroom materials. Unless I find donations or pay out of pocket, my students do not receive new and innovative materials with which to learn. Thank you so, so very much! It's people like you who keep school exciting and fun for today's public school students. I can never thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ahrens

  • Boys' Reading Group

    Funded Jan 25, 2011

I wanted to let you know how much our gentlemen have been enjoying the books you donated.

"The Absolutely True Diary.." has been a smashing success. The boys have loved it, and it's been great to see them recommend it to their classmates (indeed, none of the books has made it back to the shelf - they're continually in students' hands!).

"Chasing Lincoln's Killer" is meeting with similar enthusiasm. I've never seen students read historical non-fiction so voraciously. And "Chasing Vermeer" is on deck, which should be another hit.

We're grateful for your generosity, and for providing our book group with so much opportunity for joy and learning. Honestly, it's been a lot of fun, and we all look forward to our weekly meetings. Thanks for making this happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sipe

  • 5th Grade Scholars Needing More Resources

    Funded Jan 25, 2011

Once again, thank you so much for your contributions. My class has soared tremendously with the technology you helped provide us. We are able to watch videos and see pictures to help expand our horizons. We have also become a more organized classroom with our caddies and organizational shelves.

One of the smallest, yet very meaningful contributions has been the use of a dictionary. Many students did not have a strong vocabulary, but since then have found many opportunities to expand their repertoire of word knowledge. We have been able to write stronger essays, improve our oral language and practice using a valuable learning tool.

The dynamics of the classroom has changed tremendously and from the bottom of our hearts- thank you! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. d.
