  • College Style Note Taking for the AP Class

    Funded Sep 3, 2009

The projector, printer, and books you have donated to my students have made an amazing impact on the daily lives of my students' learning. We are preparing to take the AP Biology exam on May 10 and attempting to prepare ourselves for the rigors of university life. The students will mostly be first generation college students and feel under-prepared for college, never mind the AP exam they have challenged themselves with. Even still, they have overcome their fears and work hard, meeting the demands of the course, their jobs, and extra curricular activities. These students are amazing.

You have given me the tools to prepare them. Prepare them for the AP exam. When I gave them a mid-year course evaluation, the students overwhelmingly wrote that they loved the Power Points, especially my capability to show videos and images to help further explain concepts.

The students themselves have used the technology during some of our exciting projects, such as the Cell Organelle campaign (they ran a campaign for each part of the cell) and genetic disorder research presentation. Your generous donation has helped create a community of learners who are ready to face the demands of the challenging universities they have selected.”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Geology Rocks! City Kids Take Science Outside!

    Funded Oct 10, 2009

Thank you so much for your donations of clipboards, tree finder books, triple beam balances, and graduated cylinders! My science scholars were thrilled when they received these supplies. We use the clipboards daily in class to keep track of our data for experiments. We have also used the graduated cylinders and triple beam balances to learn more about density. We are excited for the warm weather to come so that we can venture outside to use our tree finder books!

Without your generous donations, my science scholars would not be able to have the hands-on learning experiences that make science special. We are truly grateful for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Vitale
