  • Incorporating Digital Images Into Class Projects

    Funded May 17, 2011

It is touching to know members of the community are actively looking for ways to make a difference in our school. You have made a difference because we received vital pieces of equipment for a basic Graphic Arts program that we did not possess prior to your involvement. Thanks.

The cameras are first being used on a calender project where the students will make calenders with pictures relevant to their lives. The calenders should rival a similar product one might be able to purchase at Walgreens or through other photo services. I am hoping the students recognize the potential for this project to serve as a gift in this coming holiday season. This scenario would enable your contribution to additionally impact the families of my students as well!

The cameras will continue to be used upon student request for projects throughout the year and hopefully for years to come if they can hold up to student use. I thought it was interesting as I reviewed the student thank you notes that many students pledged to take good care of these cameras. Without a doubt, the students are appreciative of having new equipment available for their use. Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness in supporting my project on Donors Choose. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Roach

  • Our Students Are Stars!!!!

    Funded Jun 27, 2011

"A hero is somebody who is selfless,

who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and

help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply

    cares."(Quote by Debi Mazar).

To the students of my class and myself,

you are all heroes! You have done such a selfless act, by donating to us. This

gift gives us hope for a brighter future, full of accomplishments and success. My

students are now able to show their successes and be acknowledged for them.

We are using the camera, printer, photo

paper and ink cartridges to help capture and showcase the students'

accomplishments. We are also using these tools to help our students, who are

more visual learners or who are non verbal, be able to express their needs and

wants through real life examples. Our students learn best through real life

    experiences and pictures.

Thank you for helping to give voices to

those that are not able to express them, accomplishment to those who do not

always see themselves as intelligent, and hope to all of us, because strangers

saw us in need and helped! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sullivan

  • Calculators for Kids: Essential Tool for Success

    Funded May 17, 2011

Thank you very much for your gift of three calculators to the free rental program at our school. You have made it possible for three more of our students to have access to the technology that will enable them to study higher level math concepts.

Many of our students have trouble purchasing their own graphing calculator and this will allow more students to have the use of this calculator through the year and for their college readiness tests. These calculators will be available year after year for many students' use.

Donors like you give students the chance to achieve to their upmost potential.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brasko

  • Look Mom I'm a Scientist

    Funded Apr 10, 2011

Thank you all again for your generous donations. My students are just beginning their science fair projects for this fall. They were very excited to find out that they would not have to purchase the project boards and they were surprised that people they don't even know were willing to do this for them. The pictures I posted are of the students looking at past year's projects to get ideas. So far this year's topics range from looking at how DNA evidence can be processed in forensics to how to build a better stealth plane.

I'm so glad to be connected with such a wonderful organization and I deeply appreciate your time and donations. I believe the process of science is a very important concept for students to learn. I'm so glad that all of you agree with me. Let's keep science alive and well in our schools!

    Thank you so much!

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stokes

  • Get Those Students Outside

    Funded Apr 7, 2011

I am very excited that there are so many wonderful people willing make donations to help educate my students in the fine art of gardening. It is always a joy to see the students surprised faces when they compare the quality of the garden plants that received the worm castings or worm tea as a fertilizer compared to the plants that received the other organic fertilizers. Many of the students have gone home and started their own gardens and have become life long learners.

The tools that you have funded will enable students to create their own garden experiments and to test the garden soil. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Miller

  • Watch Us Grow

    Funded Apr 5, 2011

Thank you again for your generous donations to our Student Garden. What an exciting adventure this has turned out to be! From planting seeds in the greenhouse in March, to watching them sprout and grow in April to finally putting the plants in the ground in May, it has truly been a learning experience for all involved.

The students love checking out the garden on a daily basis. They are so observant to what is happening in the garden. They notice new sprouts almost immediately and have seen signs of others loving our garden too (rabbits and spiders) and make connections to their other classes- especially math and reading! We are anxious for the hot, sunny weather to really get things growing.

The students are so proud of their work and we in turn are proud of them. Their commitment and dedication to this project is inspiring. We owe you a garden-full of thanks.

    Here's to a bountiful harvest! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roscetti
