Let's Paint Our Learning in Sight Words!
Funded Dec 20, 2009I would like to begin this letter by sharing with you the impact I've seen on my first grade students. First grade is an interesting year in school because students begin to take all of the little parts of knowledge they've acquired and put it all together. My students come to me in the beginning of the year knowing most of their letters and sounds; by the end of the year they are beginning to read chapter books!
The sight-word readers and activities purchased with this grant launched my students from knowing only the parts of reading, into knowing the "whole" of reading. It was amazing to see the engagement the students had with the sight-word readers because of the activity center! The major difference I saw was the confidence the students exhibited when reading aloud. Thank you, for that will last them their entire educational career, giving them the strength and courage to challenge themselves.
Your kindness and generosity are much appreciated! Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Oakley
