• To The Next Level with Tablet PCs!!!

    Funded Dec 8, 2009

Thank you so much for your support of my students academic achievement and success. You have no idea how much is needed to bridge the educational gap that exists in America. My students are sincerely grateful and my future students will be as well. The netbook will be used by my future students to come.

Since receiving the netbook, we have spent countless hours using the netbook to access information and data via the Internet. The netbook has allowed our lessons to come alive. The netbook has also allowed me to use it for individualized studies for group members in areas of reading and math since we have limited technology in the classroom.

Once again, we are thankful that you care and grateful for your support of THEIR future which will greatly impact OUR future as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Abbott

  • More Reading Please!

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

Thank you so much for the hard cover set of Bud Not Buddy. My students absolutely loved it! The best moments of reading this novel is when the children begged me to read another chapter. That is what it is all about, developing a love for reading. I believe it takes only one book to achieve that love. For many of my students Bud Not Buddy was the book. It warmed my heart to see my students who are reading below level so engrossed in a novel. They usually shy away from reading altogether.

To see so many students raise their hands and make comments or to share their favorite part is incredible! I love watching my students when we reach the climax of the book. Their eyes are glued to the pages with their mouths open wide in anticipation. The ending always shocks them. I love it!

You generous donation allowed me the opportunity to not only develop a love for reading but to also reinforce reading skills in a fun and interesting way. We completed several projects and still have more to complete! My kids enjoyed creating a summary of the novel in a comic strip. We integrated Social Studies by doing a unit on The Great Depression, which is the historical event this book is centered around.

I have so much more to say, but I'll end with a simple but heartfelt Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moore

I want you know how grateful I am for your generous contribution to sustain music education at our school. The implementation of the program has been tremendous. In strengthening student understanding of music and its relationship with the spoken word, we have integrated the instruments in cultural appreciation, accompanying student creative writing, and measures to be creative as a meditative retreat. The impact has been worthwhile.

Having worked in this school for a few years, I have seen the general progression to include musical education in our classrooms. As a community charter school, our resources are nearly 50% of the average classroom in our geographic region. Because of these short comings, we often have to prioritize spending to pay for basic materials. The students come attend the school with challenges, but the school should not be challenged in meeting their interests, academic needs, and diversity of instruction.

We appreciate your impact in providing an enriching environment for our students.”

    With gratitude,

ME AND MY STUDENTS WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENOROSITY. I TEACH IN AN INNER CITY SCHOOL THAT ISIN A NEIGHBORHOOD THAT IS PLAGUED WITH VIOLENCE AND TURMOIL. MY STUDENTS ARE VERY BRIGHT AND INTELLIGENT, THROUGH YOUR GIFT TO MY SCHOOL IT WILL HELP TO EXPOSE KIDS TO GRAPHIC ARTS PROGRAMS THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE. AS AN ART TEACHER WITH A LIMITED BUDGET YOUR DONATION HAS ENRICHED THE LIVES OF KIDS THAT BY ALL ACCOUNTS AND STATISTICS DON'T MATTER. YOUR GIFT IS AN AFFIRMATION THAT THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO CARE ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION COMING UP BEHIND THEM.”

  • A Journey Through Time and Space

    Funded Dec 14, 2009

I can't thank you enough for funding my project, " A Journey Through Time and Space". My students are so engaged in the learning process. I can just see the difference as they are learning so many different ways of thinking creatively and problem solving.

We began the projects by dividing into groups. The groups wrote a story, made a story board, movie poster and backdrops. After this writing and 2-D work was finished, the students created puppets, clay figures, and props. When the 3-D work was done, I handed them the video cameras, and that is when they could see all of their efforts coming together. We are in the process of filming their movies, entering the data on our computers and doing some preliminary editing in iMovie.

Without your support this activity could never have been realized. My students have been able to experience tools that are relevant to a multi-media art making experience. This has been a challenging and rewarding project for all of us. I am particularly pleased that they have had to learn to work productively as a team to accomplish their movies. Another extremely positive outcome is that they are learning art making skills in the service of their creative ideas. They must gain mastery over their materials, in order to see their art realized.

Using the video cameras, with the excellent camera bags and memory cards, created a very high level of motivation and means for my students to synthesize their ideas.

Thank you so much for your kind and generous support.

  • A Better Reader We Can Become

    Funded Nov 24, 2009

I wish to thank you for your generous donation toward my much needed classroom library books. As part of the daily reading workshop, my students self-select and independently read texts from our classroom library. It is important that I expose my students to a variety of genres and have available a variety of reading levels. Many of my students are prodigious readers and before long many of these readers feel as though the choices are thin. I need to continue to build this library with high-interest text and your contribution to this request has put many books into the hands of my students. Most importantly, your donation has funded books by a well-known author (and former English teacher) whose content and characters reflect those of the students I teach. To maintain an interest in reading, I want to provide my students with books that represent various cultures and themes but too it is important that my students read about the lives of characters who look like them and have similar life experiences to them.

Thank you so very much for making this goal possible. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Belanski

  • Have a Heart

    Funded Nov 25, 2009

Thank you again for your generosity and your belief that extra curricular activities are essential to keeping our students safe and by providing our students with the opportunity to par take in a sport they love.

The materials that you have provided have helped the girls soccer season begin on a great note. The shin guards that you have provided have keep the girls safe from injury in practice and are desperatley needed in your varsity games which begin this week! The soccer balls that were given have helped the team build confidence since they now have balls that we can use in games and practice and enough so that we are able to do so effectively. Furthermore the socks you have provided will save lots of headaches come our first games this week, no more sharing socks between players.

Thank you again for demonstrating to our students that there are still people out there that care and that they are important.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gomez

  • Visualize My Lessons!

    Funded Dec 9, 2009

Thank you so much for your generosity! Our school is facing a budget crisis and small things such as paper for copies have been limited for the teachers. The LCD projector that you so generously donated allows me as a teacher to limit the number of copies I need to make for my students, by being able to put up the documents that I would normally pass out to my students on the LCD.

The students are also very appreciative of the LCD projector (as you will see in their thank you letters) as it allows them to actually see what we are discussing in class. We are able to use the LCD to look at maps, pictures, and video clips that we find online.

Thank you again for your support and patience. I am sorry for the delay in sending these letters and thank you's out, the LCD projector was never located in our building until a month and a half after it had arrived.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Stieber

  • Where are the Library Books?

    Funded Dec 1, 2009

I am so excited that my project has been funded. My students are going to be so excited to hear that we will be receiving new library books. They love when I read to them everyday and I know they will LOVE the new books. The variety of the reading levels will provide books for every child to read. In addition, these books will be used as part of my lending library in which the students can check these books out and read at home. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you...you have no idea how much this means to my students and I.”
