Welcome to my giving page! Please consider picking a classroom project from the list below to support. They're all worthy causes, and your contribution really does help.
We received the resources for our project and we love our new books! The students are able to each have their own book to use in class to practice writing letters and words. We also have workbooks for math and reading that can be used at home to support their learning with their families. These materials are so beneficial to my students' success in kindergarten and we would not have been able to afford these books if it were not for wonderful donors such as you. Thanks again for supporting our classroom learning!”
The television you have so generously donated to my class is greatly appreciated. On Fridays students look forward to watching an educational video. This opportunity is a good enforcer on building on their knowledge. We have watched animal planet videos and social studies video on famous people. This visual connection to text is an important one.
Future students will also benefit from your gift. I plan on connecting future lessons with appropriate videos. Because of your gift, you have inspired me to plan ahead. Thanks so much on behalf of the many students that will benefit from this experience.”
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for donating towards our books. My students love them very much. When my students received the books the smiles on their faces could light up a room. It is so wonderful for the students to have new books that allow them to continue to practice reading. My students are used to receiving books that are beaten up, run down and that they have already read. The books have brought new excitement and interests to the fingertips of my students. You really have helped make these students more successful and more excited about learning each day.”
Thank you for your generosity in funding my proposal, Healthy Teeth, Healthy Bodies. I've never seen children so excited over a toothbrush and toothpaste! So many of them, whether they were kindergardeners, first graders or fourth graders said, "thanks, I needed a new toothbrush!" I wish I could package and send you the feeling I got when they said that! Their reactions are always such a visceral reminder of the important work we do together!
I'll continue teaching them healthy habits. Thanks to people such as yourselves, my job is a great deal easier!”
Thank you so much for your generous donation to my school. It has been so exciting seeing boxes of new books getting delivered to my classroom. For so long I have been photocopying short stories or reading from old books. I can't believe that we have brand new novels to read. The students went through the boxes the other day and we took a class vote on which novel we are going to read next.
I think that we are going to read the SeedFolks novel first because the level is a little lower. Once again, thank you very much.”
Thank you for your generous donations in funding my Kindergarten writing project. The supplies in our writing center have helped make my students grow into the great beginner writers that make our ideas flourish daily.
We have already written several different types of writing, such as Personal Narratives, Small Moments and "How To" Stories and it's only the middle of the year!
You have helped make Writing Workshop a creative, colorful, fun experience for my young students.
Thank you for your generous contribution to my students and their education!
Students have already used the digital camera as part of our Design Technology class. They acted as photographers, took pictures of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile in action throughout the school building, and then used their images to create posters for the entire school community.
This project provided my students the opportunity to really think about what it means to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective through their daily actions and choices in the classrooms and hallways of the school.
Now that the posters created with the digital cameras and memory cards provided by Donors Choose are on display, it has been amazing to see the students begin to internalize the characteristics they photographed and planned!

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 5 other donors.
Thank you for your generous donation. We are fortunate enough to live in one of the greatest cities - New York City. However, many of the students in my class have never experienced many of the sights that this city has to offer. Many of them have never left their community in the South Bronx.
With the help of your donation, the students will read and discover the history and significance of many of the famous landmarks. We will go on several trips into the city to have first hand experiences with the places we have read about. We will use these resources and interactions to foster literacy development.”
Wow, what an impact these resources have had on our learning!! We cannot thank you enough for donating to our special project!
The children love reading their independent reading books on the plush, cozy, and colorful bean bags! Each morning, the student of the month is allowed to read their book on their favorite bean bag during homeroom. I cannot express how much the bean bags have encouraged my kids to keep reading!
The books on tape were another big hit. My students literally beg me to put on, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Joey Pigza Loses Control. These cassettes help us have lively book discussions, in our reading groups.
Lastly, the miniature dry erase boards, dry erase rolls, and colorful storage bins make our classroom even more suitable for learning! You generous donations actually give the children a reason to come to school in morning! You have truly helped me inspire them! ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lucas
