  • Working on Anger Coping! :o

    Funded Dec 1, 2009

I wanted to express my gratitude for your extremely generous donation to our school's anger coping project. The Flip Camera that you provided was invaluable in helping the students complete their curriculum the way it was intended. While completing the video projects, they learned to work together, see the benefit of their hard work, and have fun at the same time!

Thanks to the anger coping curriculum (and now with the FLIP, we were finally able to complete the whole program for the first time!), our school has already seen a dramatic impact in students' attitudes, behaviors, and grades! The statistics we have been gathering have shown a marked improvement in how the students feel about coming to school, they connect with teachers and fellow students more, they feel safer in school, and they have a more positive attitude about themselves. We have also shown a decrease in discipline referrals.

Thank you again for your generous donation to our project. We now have all the necessary equipment to complete the program as intended and with fidelity. We will continue to work hard to help our students develop the necessary tools to deal with the stressors they face in their daily lives. We are already seeing a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Teacher

  • Successful Soccer

    Funded Dec 19, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation to my soccer project. We have made sooo much use out of all of the materials. I have taught 3 different fourth grade classrooms the basic fundamentals of soccer. That's over 90 students just this year. They have learned skills such as coordination, dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork, offense, defense, sportsmanship, and how to strategize. They have also learned the value of volunteerism and how donations is what helped and fueled this whole process/project. They have been apart of the entire process online (viewing our financial progress, etc.). Our school also hosts an annual field day and harvest festival. Both times our school has used the soccer goals. The community thought it was a big success. Since then I've had third and fifth grade teachers want to borrow my soccer equipment.

I'm mostly excited about how the students reacted to receiving the donations. They were shocked that people would donate to children they didn't know. They felt very lucky and gracious of all of your donations. In return, you would've loved to see them play soccer. They are not use to playing recreational sports, so it took a little while for them to get use to rules and routines. It's been great watching and teaching them different ways to exercise and stay healthy. A lot of them also found a new sport that they want to continue to play when they go to middle and high school.

Again, many thanks to all of you who donated to our project. We hope you have a great summer and even better rest of the year! ”

    Mrs. Longacre

  • Telling Our Stories

    Funded Nov 27, 2009

Thank you so much for supporting this wonderful project. My second grade students really used their imaginations to create the most beautiful books I have ever seen. They made books about their interests such as flowers, family, friends, games and stories. It was great to see that the students all came up with such different ideas for books. Some of them had chapters, written stories and lots of fantastic illustrations. We used many different art supplies such as color pencils, markers, crayons, stencils and rulers. The students liked to use all of these materials and experiment with them. We sent the books home for report card pick up night. It was a great success!”

  • Communication and Sensory Needs to be Met!

    Funded Dec 14, 2009

I can not express in words the impact that these new resources are having with my students. Because of your generosity, my students are learning new ways to effectively and appropriately communicate their basic wants and needs. This is a huge step for them and will eventually help them to communicate in every day life.

Your generous gift has also provided us with new sensory games and toys. Sensory integration for students with Autism is as important, if not more so, than learning to read and write. Without having a balanced sensory system, my students are not able to comply with the most simple requests or concentrate on anything, even preferred items. With the new materials we have received, you have provided an outlet for them that is allowing them to stabilize themselves and provide experiences to new sensations that they might otherwise have veered away from. For that, we all thank you.

It is because of your generosity that my classroom has new and very much needed materials that my students are flourishing with every day. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Driggers

  • Healthy Body, Healthy Me Part 2

    Funded Nov 25, 2009

Thank you so much for helping to fund our project. Students have had a wonderful time dancing and exercising to the CDs that were purchased. Also students have learned great listening skills and coordination skills as they listen to the musical directions on the bean bag dance CD. It is one of their favorite activities to take part in.

These items have been a great addition to our classroom since we do live in the inner city and in the bitter winter movement outdoors is not possible. Students also learn fun ways to stay active and healthy through dance and movement.

Thank you so much for helping students stay active and healthy!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rodriguez

  • Rocking Out In Pre-K

    Funded Jan 8, 2010

Thank you for your donations to support our classroom project, Rocking Out In Pre-K. With your help, my students have had the opportunity to experience music in the classroom like never before. With the help of the song CDs, instruments, and bell set our class has sounded terrific and had a great time learning.

The musical instruments allow the students the opportunity to try their hand at rhythm while enjoying different sounds and building their gross and fine motor skills. We use the instruments to practice rhythm, following directions and just to make a beautiful noise!

The hand bell set has given my students the opportunity to work as a group to make something wonderful. Reading the color coded cards to play a song gives them the chance to practice reading left to right, as well as one-to-one correspondence. They are learning pre-reading skills while making music.

The song CDs have provided an opportunity for basic skills in a fun way. Our class often sings and acts out many of the songs while practicing phonemic awareness, counting skills, and alphabet recognition,

Your generous donations have made our preschool an even better place to be. From me, and all my students, we thank you for your kindness and support. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grieshop

  • Rainy Day Blues: Inside Recess Materials

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation toward our project, "Rainy Day Blues". The materials came just in time! We had just experienced two weeks of inside days because of the snow and cold. Since we had no gross motor materials appropriate for our classroom, our only options were passive activities such as puzzles, art projects, or watching an educational film. Every time our principal announced it would be an inside day, the students were very disappointed.

Two days after the materials arrived, we had another inside day. Once again, my class was disappointed. When I showed them our inside recess material, they were absolutely thrilled! (I even got a spontaneous cheer!) Not only have we been able to use the materials for our inside recess, we have been able to share with other classes. There were enough materials that four classes are able to provide appropriate, gross motor activities for their students at the same time! We have also used the materials during other times of the day. During a regular grouptime, we used the alphabet mats to play a letter recognition game. The students are getting to move while they are learning!

My students and I are very fortunate to have received your generous donation. I appreciate your support of the education of young children!”

  • Rollerblading Our Way To Fitness!

    Funded Dec 15, 2009

Thank you once again for funding this project for my students! Rollerblading is such a great physical activity, one that my students are really enjoying. They are having a blast as they show off their "sweet moves." We hope you enjoy the photos of them in action.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. We really hope you realize how much this means to our students. They love you for being so kind and generous. Dan, we hope you enjoy the personalized thank-you notes!”
