Strum That Guitar
Funded Nov 24, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donation of guitars for the music program at Monarch Academy. The guitars are currently being thoroughly enjoyed by the Fifth Graders. They are loving the challenge of learning a new instrument.
The guitars are not only providing an opportunity for students to learn how to play a new instrument, they have also allowed me to teach the students about chords, triads and basic tonal harmony. The guitars have provided a meaningful and musical context for this learning. The students have used the guitars in small ensembles with xylophones and rhythm instruments, creating their own accompaniments to a few well-loved songs. They are eating up the challenge!
Once again, thank you so much for your donation. The guitars are proving a wonderful finale to the elementary musical education of these fabulous students.”
