Calico Jack is back, and more philanthropic than ever! Please help me improve the educational lives of NYC public school students by funding one of the teacher projects below. They're all good, but pick whichever one speaks to you. You'll be glad you did!
I want to express my extreme gratitude for your generous donations to this project. Your donation has had an immeasurable impact on my students.
My students are so excited to have a rug that is clean, bright and beautiful. They get so excited to sit on their assigned rug spots and are eager to tell anyone what word they sit on.
Now, whenever we go to the rug, there is no fighting about where they sit and no complaining that someone is sitting on top of them. They are able to quickly turn to talk and share with their "rhyming partners" and the letters on the edge of the rug enable us to quickly get into a "circle spot" to share our work or have an important discussion.
Thank you for giving my students a clean space of their own that they enjoy every day!!

At the beginning of the year when I began teaching this AP class for the first time, I was so concerned whether or not my students would be able to pay for the test they were preparing for. I posted this project on a whim, not thinking anyone would ever donate. But, you all did, and my students who come from low-income homes were able to take their AP test without the added pressure of putting unneeded financial stress on their families.
The AP test is now finished, and the year is coming to an end. Many of the students in the AP class are graduating this year. Thanks to your generosity, they may be entering university with college credits received from their AP tests.”

Thank you so much for your generosity to my students. Because of you, our school year was successful. With items such as a pencil sharpener and storage table bins, future students will be able to enjoy independence at their work stations. The crayons and pencils allowed the students to complete assignments and stay on task. The storage bins that were placed on the tables allowed more time for instruction because the students did not need to continuously go to the closet to take out materials such as crayons, scissors, glue sticks and pencils.
Thank you again. I can never express through words what an impact you have had with your donation to my young students.”

I wanted to thank you for your generous donations to my school's newspaper club. The camera that you donated has given new learning opportunities to the members of the club. Students have been able to learn about framing pictures, digital photography, f-stops and shutter speed, using the flash, and capturing pictures that tell a story.
Our school is facing budget cuts, so without your help, my students would never of had this vital resource. Prior to your generous donation, students were using teacher cell phones to take pictures. Your donation has offered new educational opportunities to students and, therefore, has opened new possibilities for their future.
Thank you very much for all of your help.”

Thank you all again for selecting my proposal, "Ts for Teens." These t-shirts are such a necessary element in my character education program. The students are more aware of how there actions and statements reflect on them as a person. It is so wonderful to know that their are still great people out there willing to support schools and education. Thank you again for your dedication and determination to help under-privileged youth. Your kindness will not be forgotten for seeking out donorschoose.org and making a difference in my middle school.”
My students and I will like to thank you for your generous donation. Unfortunately, earlier in the year their teacher decided to resign which left them very upset. They were hurt and confused. The school hired a substitute until a permanent teacher was hired. I, the literacy coach, took over the class for reading and writing. I had been working with their teacher so it was an easy transition.
The art materials came in at a nice time because I was then able to incorporate art in reading and writing. The students were enjoying the work and weren't as upset as they were because they were having fun while learning.
Thank so very much for funding the project. It couldn't of come at a better time. This class needed materials to engage in fun learning. We were also able to hire a permanent teacher for them. I, of course, am still working with them.
I cannot fully express how thankful the students and I are for your donation to our school library. As a reading teacher and librarian, I know how important books are in the life of a child. They open doors and feed the imagination. In addition, the ability to read well affects all areas of a student's academic performance.
When I first took over the library this past fall, I was disappointed to discover how old and inadequate the books in our collection were. In order for students to be motivated to visit the library, there needs to be new materials that spark an interest in the children. This is especially true for those students who are struggling to learn English, as well as develop their reading skills. Your donation has helped us modernized our library and has turned a whole new group of children onto the wonderful world of reading.
Your donation has made new and engaging fiction books available to our students and generated a buzz about visiting our library. These books have encouraged students who would not normally read for enjoyment to pick up a book.
On behalf of our whole school community, thank you for your generous donation and for believing in the importance of reading.”

Ever since I started teaching Physical Education here in the NYC, I have always been short on supplies/equipment. I have tried so many different ways to keep all of my students engaged at the same time. Well times are starting to change thanks to DonorsChoose.org and all of the generous people out there like yourselves. Your generosity has and will continue to make a big impact on my students.
Last year I did a unit on football which was very difficult. A majority of the students always seemed to be too physical or did not play fairly which caused a lot of arguments between the students. Now that we have Flags for a Football unit, my students can now play in a more safe fun filled atmosphere. There will now be no more arguments or complaints like " you never tagged me". All I have to do is make sure the flags are either "on" or "off". Without arguments the students will have more time to practice and to play a real game.
Thanks again for all of your support. Hopefully the pictures and thankyou letters from my students will show you how much this means to us. On behalf of my students and my school thanks for all your help dedication and support.”

Thank you so much for this donation! Nothing tops the feeling of opening a box of brand new books - it's one of the best feelings in the world! As soon a we opened the box andI put the books out, my students were begging for the chance to begin reading! I think they have probably read more in the past week than they have in any previous one! They are devouring the new books, and very thankful that we finally have enough upper level books to go around! Thank you so much for helping my students to continue their academic success and to achieve at the high levels that I know they are capable of!
Thank you so much!”

Thank you for your generous donation and making it possible for my proposal to be funded. Your donation has made a wonderful impact on all the students in my class.
When the basketballs, footballs, and jump ropes arrived the students in my class were overjoyed. They were so excited that finally they would all be able to have sports equipment during recess and "free gym".
As an educator in the New York City Public School System I try to give my students all I can and provide for them what they need and deserve, but financially this can be difficult. It is inspiring to know that others also care and are willing to help in educating our youth, the future of our world. Your donation has made a difference in the lives of my students, will impact future students, and meant so very much to me.
Please spread the word to your friends and family about Donors Choose, in order to assist me or any other teacher with things they need to make teaching possible. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Marcinkowski
