I cannot begin to thank you enough for your kind donations! The LCD multimedia projector has been an asset to my science classroom and has already been a tremendous learning tool!
As we were discussion erosion and deposition, I was able to pull up a clip that showed the students both processes in action. It made learning the material so much more meaningful to the students.
As the year progresses, I am able to incorporate its use more and more in to the curriculum! I have created PowerPoint presentations to help cover topics with students. I have showed video clips to put a picture to abstract concepts. The uses are endless and so is the learning opportunities!
Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students and I both appreciate it more than words can express!”
Thank you so much for your generous donation of books for our classroom library! When I announced to my students that we had received a gift of new books and read them the titles, they were pestering me daily until they came. Once they arrived, I had student clawing for the new books! It was difficult to decide which students should get the books first, however, what a wonderful dilemma to have!
Your donation made my students so excited to come to class daily for our twice-a-day DEAR (drop everything and read) period. In the past, I had many students-usually the boys--who would grumble about book choice and do homework instead of read. Now, I have all of my boys reading, and many of the girls are clamoring after the books as well. They have enjoyed the mystery novels, sports books, and dramas and are asking for new titles daily.
It is amazing how the simple act of reading can dramatically raise reading levels. With your generous gift I know that my students are well on their way to growing their reading levels two plus years this school year-- which is our goal. Thank you so much for your support. My students and myself appreciate it more than you know.”
I want to thank you all for your donations to my project. It is wonderful to see that you all care so much about the education of our children. In Kindergarten, learning to read is the most important step in setting the foundation for life-long learning.
The materials you have provided to my class are a valuable resource for my students not only this year but for many years to come. With these materials my students get to listen to and read stories that they would not have had the chance to experience otherwise. It has also expand their reading levels, vocabulary, and fluency.
Thank you again for your donations. We are excited about all the learning we are doing with our new materials!”
Thank you all for your generous donations! I wish you would be able to see the impact that your donations have made, but since you can't see it firsthand, let me tell you. The children were so amazed to get the big boxes in the mail. We stopped class (just for a few minutes) to open them up. It was amazing.
Now that we have these new tools, I am able to be a better teacher. A lot of our reading lessons are now more engaging because of the projector. We studied for our PSSA's (our state standardized test) on the projector.
I also want to thank you for enabling me to purchase a new CD player. Previous to the new one, I had brought in an old one from my house, and it was not nearly loud enough! That is, if it even worked at all. (My kids always joked and asked my CD player if it felt like playing our story that day!)
Your kind and generous donations made such an impact in my classroom, and I am brought to tears to think of your kindness. It's nice to know that people out there care about my kids just as much as I do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
The equipment granted to our Photo:Art club has created a refreshing love for creative photography in the tenth grade. The members of the club are now expressing their creative energy that has been waiting to blossom. One of the most amazing goals is to see their work in print. Most members are learning editing skills in their design classes, so combined with their photography we have real-time learning. The president of Photo:Art is a strong student in my Honors Geometry class with a current 98.6 class average. Her plans with the help of our club's momentum are to one day have a photography summer camp for her classmates of 2012. Her name is Summer Britt-Sloan. Our first event took place three Fridays ago. The Photo:Art club provided the photography for the school's tenth grade formal dance. Everyone in the club used the cameras and notebook computer to take&edit 4x6 postcards and 8x12 mini posters. Students sharpen their mathematics and business skills by following president Summer's photo-shoot style operation plan. Her leadership was a success. Their artistic skills were polished with each photo taken throughout the evening of the tenth grade (Soph-Hop) dance. Our numbers have grown from five since January to nine members currently in the tenth and eleventh grades. Our future plans are to continue to save and write grants to purchase a digital SLR camera to increase the quality of our photo-expressions. Our summer goal is to create the clubs first photo book and post card collection. Thank you for making these ideas possible. I see first-hand the positive difference in some of the member's attitudes that have personal challenges. I have included some copies of favorite prints taken by student members of our Photo:Art club.

Thank you all so much for your generosity. The rug is a great success, my students absolutely love it. It is so much bigger, nicer and more child friendly than the old one I brought in from home. I can't even properly express our appreciation for this gift, but, I'll try.
When I first started with my classroom there was no rug. We would sit on the floor and sing "here we are together all sitting on the imaginary rug..." (I'm not kidding). I had to buy alot for the classroom and neither the school nor I had the funds to buy a rug. I brought one in that I had from home, but it was thin (not comfy), small for the group and made with adults in mind. It was all that I had and it was a step above sitting directly on the floor. I knew that if I could somehow get something nicer, it would help prevent some of the wiggling, finger squishing accidents and other attention drains that happen when kindergrtners sit too close together on a rug or on the floor. I have to be honest, this rug was just a wish, a determined wish but a wish just the same, to give my students a better shot. You all helped make that wish come true and I am forever grateful to you all.
Since we received the rug, it has changed and helped us in ways I never imagined. I wanted to get the child friendly world map on the rug to form a base for later geographical study, well my class travels the world everyday. They ask me where they are sitting, they show me where thier families come from. they are 5 years old and can identify many of the oceans and almost all of the continents. It fascinates them and me to use this "concrete" rug to understand the abstract concept of the world.
Additionally, and no less important, storytime has become a calming beautiful experience that peaks their love of reading and learning. Talk about an impact! You have all done a wonderful thing for us and the ripples will continue through these young children's lives. Thank you again and again.”
Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. My students have really enjoyed playing these games and working with these tools. My Geometry students explored their reasoning skills through games of Blokus, Set and Equate. My Statistics class has already spent 7 class periods working through financial simulations and learning all about money. I think that these students are even better prepared for their first year in college now that they have explored the financial world beyond high school. These books helped me facilitate the process.
Please continue to support classrooms around the country.”

I wish I could have captured the moment when I told my children about the new net and other supplies to show to you. They were overjoyed! They were especially excited about the net, because it means that we are able to scrimmage now. We feel like a real team!
Every Tuesday, my kids line up at my door after school, vying for the chance to carrying the balls downstairs and get started with our practice. When the net arrived last week, they all banded together to help set it up. We were able to practice our serving in a realistic way, and play small games against each other. This is something that my children have been wanting all year. And YOU were the ones to make this possible. Thank you so much for that. The brand new balls, the bag to put them in, the whistle to help practice run more smoothly, and best of all the net are all key in helping our little volleyball club be as successful as it can be.
A lot of parents want a safe and fun place for their children to go after school. Volleyball provides this. The children are also learning the rules and skills that go along with the sport, while simultaneously working on social skills and playing fair. Also, it's simply good to have a place to run around, getting exercise and letting out their pent up energy at the end of the day. I am happy to provide this opportunity to my kids, and am so appreciative that you have helped me to do this.
On behalf of my whole club, I thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Harrison
