  • Extra! Extra! Journalists Emerge on the West Side!

    Funded Apr 9, 2008

I cannot adequately express my gratitude for your generosity to Marshall High School and its journalism students. The newspaper we are creating in the journalism class is a new project within the last year in which the kids can express themselves in both a personal and professional manner while using real-life skills in the process. Since introducing the responsibility of being the voice of the entire school, the journalists in this class have been very serious and dedicated to producing a student-centered and fair perspective on all the events and news that occur. I am so proud of them. It has truly been a pleasure watching their maturity and sense of self confidence grow as they learn how to write and capture events on film. These cameras will be a big help to us as the students currently take turns sharing my one camera to take pictures for the paper, which is very difficult, as you can imagine. I am so grateful. We will put the cameras to good use and help these students realize their potential in everything they do.

Thank you with all my heart,

    Ms. D. B

    English Teacher/Journalism and Newspaper Adviser

PS. The kids are ecstatic about the cameras. They thank you with a very loud applause”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Baum

    Funded Feb 1, 2008

Thank you for the generous donation. It will mean a great deal to myself and my students that we will have a new bookshelf to store our books on. Some of our books have taken pretty bad hits due to the lack of space on shelves and in crates. So again, with deepest sincerity, thank you”

Thank you for reviving my students' excitement for literature by providing display cases for our many classroom books. Our classroom library is going to be much more inviting and easy to use with the addition of the materials you helped provide. No more crowded books and makeshift shelves to put my students in danger of the raining books! They'll be able to reach their favorite books more easily and delve into new ones daily. • Dictionary Set for Classroom

    Funded Dec 19, 2007

Thank you so much for providing the funding for the dictionaries. My students will greatly appreciate them. My students actually like to work on different ways to learn vocabulary. They especially like working with Shakespearean vocabulary. I believe that it is the challenge they like the most...not the work. I had mentioned to my students that they may receive funding for the dictionaries. They were very excited. Your giving nature is greatly appreciated. Thank you”

Thank you so much for funding the Computer!

The students are excited about the opportunity to have the technology available in the classroom as a learning tool, and have been asking about the status of my request. It will be an early Christmas gift to them all when I tell them that it is scheduled to be delivered shortly after the New Year!

Computer Literacy is so important today, and your generosity will help my students at Central High in Bridgeport bridge the gap between themselves and their counterparts in the suburbs, as they prepare for college.
