Being able to bring field studies and technology together in a seventh grade science classroom is exciting for the students and the teacher. My students have constructed their own bottle ecosystems this year. They collected living and nonliving materials from the field outside our school, designed and constructed closed soda bottle systems, and have observed and recorded their observations regularly. They're really looking forward to opening them up to observe the contents even more closely. Use of the Flex Cam iCam has allowed my students to use their laptops and our digital projector to share their work with others.
The iCam has also been useful in our study of invasive species. The small wetland area in front of our school has become overrun with purple loosestrife and rosa multiflora. When we bring plant specimens inside for identification, we can use the new technology to project the images on our screen and share our findings with each other.
Having this new equipment in the classroom encourages students to explore and teach one another. They are so excited about the possibilities for use of the iCam. Your generosity has awakened new interest in science, technology, and collaborative work. Thank you”
This just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The science experiments, texts, and other supplies have helped my students every day. We have used them for labs, homework, quizzes, tests, bellwork, and supplemental activities. Students with disabilities have many ability levels and the materials have improved their performance.
We are experiencing a financial downfall across America and that is why your help has meant so much. My students are already behind in ability but their performance can be equal to greater than their peers without a disability.
Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in America would go without.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Engle
