  • Garden To Plate, The Teen's Guide To Eating Your Vegetables!

    Funded Oct 6, 2009

The impact your donations have had on my students is immeasurable. They have not only had the opportunity to learn about the health benefits and techniques for preparing vegetables and vegetarian cuisine; but also had the experience of seeing first-hand where they come from. We have a nice bunch of healthy herb plants, and the beginnings of some wonderful vegetables. I can't explain how exciting it is, as a culinary instructor to see my students cooking and eating veggies with such enthusiasm. To hear stories from students about how they went to the grocery store with their parents and started looking for organically grown produce and reading labels, really gives me joy. I have some students that were already planning on becoming chefs, but are now wanting to focus on nutritionally balanced and sustainable cuisine.

Having up-to-date information and recipe sources, new cutting boards (enough for each group to use them at the same time!), and colorful informative posters greatly enriches my project lessons. These students are now taking this knowledge about healthy eating, cooking and sustainable agriculture and sharing it with their friends and family. Your donations are inspiring students, as they explore career options as nutritionists, chefs and health practitioners. We have planted the seeds of knowledge and experience, as these young cooks grow into conscious consumers and adventurous eaters. Thank you so much for being a part of the process.”

  • Can You See It?

    Funded Oct 13, 2009

    Hi all!

Thank you so much for contributing to "Can You See It?". My students were working on the microbe unit when the package came, so they couldn't wait to get them out out use them. They got to use them to look at prepared slides and live organisms in pond water! They also got to watch yeast with and without food to try and determine it's needs. The materials that you provide my classroom are making such a big difference. Students who have never been interested before are more and more interested with the addition of technology and hand-on activities!

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McDaniel
