For the next four weeks, I will subject myself to public humiliation and private doubt by growing what will no-doubt be a ridiculous-looking Mustache. To justify this endeavor, I need your support. Please sponsor my 'stache by choosing a classroom project below and making a donation of any amount. And wish me and my Mustache luck.
Thank you so much for donating to our project to fund a class set of Weekly Readers. I had been funded a set of Weekly Readers in 2009. I had a few issues from each week that I filed away and had been using this year. Can you imagine reading about the Inauguration of President Obama in 2009, when almost 4 years later your teacher is having you read that? Yes, I did, but I have to say that the quality of non-fiction text that Weekly Readers provide my students are worth having them read "the old stuff".
Each week that we receive the Weekly Reader issues is like Christmas. We never know what the topic will be and how it will change us. A few of our favorite issues have been on futuristic cars and anything about animals. As a teacher, I love that they provide my students with the opportunity to study graphs, maps, and captions, all things that they not only need to know for standardized tests but also for comprehending what they are reading.
Your gift to our classroom, may ultimately change one of my student's life. They may read about a topic that interests them so much they may want to study that further in high school, college, and beyond.
Thank you again for your generous gift to our classroom.”
I would like to thank each and every one of you who helped our class acquire a new printer for the classroom. Your thoughtful donation to DonorsChoose.org helped us purchase a new HP laser printer and toner cartridge so students can have access to printing out completed writing assignments and document historical images that they otherwise might not be able to complete at home. Students use the printer for academic activities on a daily basis.
This purchase is not something teachers can normally budget for, and yet it's such a valuable resource. Your generosity will benefit many students for years to come. Thank you again for your kindness and spirit of giving!
My students thank you, and I thank you. We will not forget your generosity.
This is just a small token of my gratitude for the generous donation you made to my classroom. The headphone jacks and fluency CDs you donated have become a daily part of our Daily 5 groups. The students have been using them to learn how to become stronger more fluent readers.
Without your help my students would never have had the chance to have a listening center. It is a great opportunity for them to hear correct pronunciation, pacing, and intonation. They are being exposed to more words, thus expanding their vocabularies, creating stronger readers.
Thanks to your generous donation I am able to teach small groups while knowing the kids working independently are being challenged in our listening center.
Thank you all for your generous donations to our classroom project. Students have been using our printer/copier to print their stories. It is so exciting to see their proud faces when they become "published" authors. We also have Open House ahead of us when friends and family will come to see all the hard work the students have been completing this year. Thank you for helping us provide the technology which allows students to share their work. ”
Thank you so much for helping us obtain these DVDs. The students (and I) are excited to have them to use in our classroom. We haven't had time to watch all of the DVDs yet, but have enjoyed the ones we have seen.
I love hearing the laughter and singing. I enjoy seeing the dancing and learning when the DVDs are being played. Some of my students have made it a game to see who can read the words the quickest. And, even my shyest students can be seen dancing at their seats.
Again, I thank you for providing a fun and active way for my students to learn all these concepts. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. L.
