  • Telling Our Stories

    Funded Nov 27, 2009

Thank you so much for supporting this wonderful project. My second grade students really used their imaginations to create the most beautiful books I have ever seen. They made books about their interests such as flowers, family, friends, games and stories. It was great to see that the students all came up with such different ideas for books. Some of them had chapters, written stories and lots of fantastic illustrations. We used many different art supplies such as color pencils, markers, crayons, stencils and rulers. The students liked to use all of these materials and experiment with them. We sent the books home for report card pick up night. It was a great success!”

  • The Power of Words: Learning to Debate

    Funded Jan 8, 2010

What an incredible difference your donation of headphone/microphone sets, the camcorder camera, and the tripod has made for my debate team students! Their first debating experience was last fall. Although they did very well and received some individual speaking awards, our teams did not make it into the semi-final or final rounds. After receiving the above equipment, the students were able to write, record, and listen to their speeches on computers. They were also videotaped using the camera and tripod as they practiced debating in teams. Of course, they loved watching themselves on screen! We went to our next debate this past March -- and won the championship!! Not only did the equipment you donated help us to achieve this goal, but it meant a great deal to the students that people like you cared so much about what they are doing that you would be so generous! Our final debate this year is scheduled for April 24th, and we are ready to defend our championship title! Thank you so very much for your most generous and caring assistance.”

  • Piano Books For Our Piano Lab

    Funded Dec 6, 2009

Thank you so much for donating these piano books to our classroom. The books are a great resource which provides sequential, age-appropriate piano instruction and literature for my middle school students. The students use them on a daily basis when we are studying piano.

These piano books have been a great resource. They are the core of our piano curriculum, and they provide students with a well-rounded piano curriculum that includes technique, theory, rhythm, and much more. They are easy to use and understand, and engaging enough that the students are continually challenged and excited to use them.

If we didn't have these great books, our piano curriculum would not be as successful as it is. Thanks to you, my students are learning how to play piano. They are thrilled to be gaining these skills, and I am thrilled that they are receiving this instruction that can impact their lives for years to come.”

  • Creative Children in Crisis!

    Funded Nov 28, 2009

Thank you so much for the donation you have made to my classroom! You have made a huge difference in the lives of many children in Illinois!

With your donation, we were able to expand our supplies from basic pencils and paper to paints, shown in the pictures attached, canvases, charcoal, charcoal paper and weaving looms. My students were really excited to learn about the donation, and even more excited to use the materials.

Personally, I am most excited about the paints and ten canvases. With those canvases, I will choose ten students to create special paintings for our upcoming annual Fine Arts Open House. At the Open House, the paintings will be auctioned off, to raise money for the Art department and our dwindling budget. It is great to see these students create something special that they can be proud of and will help their school.

I encourage you to continue to support classrooms around America, as many children are in need of additional resources to improve their education. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bailey

  • Let Your Words Out

    Funded Dec 31, 2009

Thank you all so much for your generous donations. It was like Christmas in our classroom the day the boxes arrived! Students eagerly helped to open and unpack the boxes with furniture, manipulatives, realia, and toys.

After much anticipation, our students have been using the pretend furniture you purchased for our class for about a month. Walking by the students in the centers and listening to their language makes me smile. My co-teacher and I have delighted in the fact that the boys are just as excited to go to the pretend area as the girls. This idea opened up a discussion for stereotypical gender roles within their cultures.

Recently we added some of the food items to the pretend area and the words immediately started flowing! "How do you call this?" "That is a banana!" Students were coming over with food items to tell me about how they use them at their house in English. I could not be more proud of my students and I am so happy that you were willing to help us when we could not help ourselves.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McCoy

  • Marching For Glory II

    Funded Jan 9, 2010

You are outstanding for helping the Roosevelt Band Program. You made the band program come forward in time. With all humbleness, I thank you. With joy in my heart, I thank you. You gave this teacher a chance to see students receive awards.

Your donations were used by students who had no clothing to participate in various programs and activities within the school district. The students wore the bibber with pride and visualized themselves standing tall in the whole uniform.

The Drum Majorette, Banner, and Tall flags received first place, the Marching Band received second place, and the Cheerleaders received third place. The students were proud of their achievement.

You should be proud, too. You are the individuals that helped them reach that moment of success. Without you, the dream of being successful was just a dream. Your teamwork showed students that dreams can be achieved with effort and by asking for help and guidance. Thank you for starting us down the road of success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Barnes

  • Better to Hear You With

    Funded Jan 8, 2010

I am in shock right now as I write this letter. I thought I was going to wait 5 months with no reply. I would like to thank you for supporting my Physical Education program.

In this tough economic times Physical Education programs across the country are most likely not receiving the funding needed to help fight obesity.

My students are very grateful to all of you for supplying the resources for me to purchase the wireless mic system that will make the gymnasium a safer place.

I know this is not equipment that goes directly to the students. This microphone system is just as important if not more important when we are dealing with school safety. It is the teachers job to make sure that students are in a safe environment. When the fire alarm goes off in the gym students need to hear the teachers direction right away so that they do not panic and we have total chaos. The gym is also used for inclement weather days. The students in 3rd to 6th grades stay in the gym until its time for them to go to class. That's over 500 student in the gym at one time. This wireless microphone system will make a safer place for my students. ”

    Mr. Stepansky

  • Keep our Book Club Going 7!!!

    Funded Dec 5, 2009

I wanted to thank you so much for your generous gift of books for our school library. Mu students were so excited when the books arrived. They knew that our book club would be able to carry on. Especially in this cold weather, it is so nice for them to have a cozy, safe spot to enjoy after school and do the best possible thing- read!

Because of your donation, my students will be able to read quality literature that they really love to read! They can bond over books and have meaningful discussions over then also. This would never have been possible without your wonderful gift. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lorenz

  • What Good Is a Printer With No Ink?

    Funded Nov 22, 2009

Thank you so much for purchasing the ink for my printer. Printers are in high demand in the school where I work.

Not every classroom has one and very few of the students have one at home. When word gets out that someone has a good working printer, it gets a lot of use. College applications and essays are written, job applications are printed and assignments are completed.

Having a printer in the classroom makes my job easier too. I can print out letters of recommendation, quizzes, assignments... Previously I had to email things

to myself and wait until I could get to a computer lab to print them out. Having the ink means I can print whatever I want; I won't have to ration the ink used by the students either. Thank you.

Your generous donation has made a big difference in my classroom”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Boggs
