Happy Birthday to me! Cha-cha-cha.
I'm a good dogg. Really. My formal name is George the Good Dogg. I like kids, naps, smokin' hot poodles, and slow cats.
Give and your bowl will always be full.
Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. The document camera has changed the way my students are able to interact in the classroom. Students take such pride in presenting their work to fellow classmates. Students are showing more work for each math problem I assign and beyond that the ability to see the work of other students has increased the amount of dialogue my students have regarding the concepts we cover in class.
In addition to the higher level of participation, the time we save using the document camera has helped us to pick up the pace and learn at a much faster rate this quarter. Students can easily and quickly show their work enabling others to find their mistakes much faster.
Without your donation my students could not achieve all they are currently achieving.”
Thank you so much for the lighting supplies you have sent our children. When we started this program three years ago, we walked onto a completely empty stage - bare walls, no equipment, and few kids. With the help of the generous supporters of DonorsChoose, we have begun to build a department that includes more kids and creates quality performances.
We are in the process of installing the new lighting equipment and teaching our students how to use it. The new lighting will definitely improve our audience's experience as well!
Your donation helps the students see that they and our department are special and important. By giving them lighting equipment, these students don't just learn about the performing arts. They experience first hand how teamwork, motivation, and creativity impact their work and themselves. Thank you again for your donation!”
I would like to take this time to thank you for your generous contributions. I can't tell you how proud I am when I see my kids using their electronic dictionaries. They pull them out first thing in the morning to help them on their math assignments, and continue as needed throughout the day for social studies, and science. They are not just sitting on the shelf collecting dust like our tattered dictionaries. The kids love them!! It has cut down on myself and my para having to translate words. Imagine having to do this with the whole class. Instead, they whip out their handy pocket dictionaries, and presto, they have the info they need at their fingertips. The kids are forever grateful, and so am I. My principal even commented how he noticed they were all using them during an observation! What a great investment they have been. Words can't express how thankful we are.”
Thank you all for your amazing generosity. Your gift of the Gamma tennis stringing machine and the wide variety of tennis strings is much appreciated by all of us here at the Gateway School.
When the machine first arrived, the students were afraid to use it. They feared that they would either break the machine or the rackets that needed fixing. After a few trials however, the students really got into restringing the rackets. They take a great deal of pride in being able to repair a broken racket so that it can be put back into play.
Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to maintain our sports program. Thank you for supporting tennis education in the Bronx. Thank you for supporting public education in New York City.”

Thank you so much for donating money to buy two nonfiction novel sets for my third grade class. The students have really enjoyed learning about different cultures and lands. Our school is in a small, close-knit community with limited resources. Therefore, many of the children I teach have not be able to experience life beyond their own small area. Your donation has helped them to imagine themselves in totally different surroundings. While watching the children read Three Cups of Tea, I was impacted at how sympathetic they felt towards others. To often, students feel burden with school instead of seeing it for what it truly is--a gift. Reading this book helped to remind them how lucky they are to receive an education in order to better their lives for the future. As part of my hero unit, I used the book to demonstrate characteristics shown throughout the pages. My class in turned helped others by donating to a local children's hospital. The pride and joy felt my them for helping others will be with them for the reminder of their lives.”
Thank you so very very much for your incredibly generous gifts to my students. As the books came in, the students were ecstatic that they each were able to use their own copy of the book, take the book home with them, and read it at their leisure. As I stated in the project request, this book changes my students and matures them in ways that are so clear, yet so awe inspiring. It's such an incredible moment for me as a teacher when my students begin to relate to the story and question humanity in a way that most high school students don't think about the world.
Your gift allowed me to have that moment and permitted my students to have that experience of clarity in the world. Never has another book I've used made such a positive impact on the lives of my students and it is simply incredible that a story, which has been read by millions of people can be shared by my students. Without your generosity, my students would not have been able to appreciate the history of the Holocaust and the story of Elie Wiesel in such a real way and I thank you for that.
I already can't wait to use the books again this semester with the new group of students I have. Thank you for your kindness and sincerity and may God bless you in your path to understanding humanity as my students have begun to with your gift.”
The easel is a blessing!!! We use it every day for every subject. It has given my classroom a focal point and it has become my main teaching board since I did not have one to begin with.
We have completed many Thinking Maps and interactive writing pieces on the easel. I have repeatedly used the lined side to teach handwriting and to model writing sentences. I use the board to display directions, vocabulary, examples of the work, photos, posters...The list goes on!
Thank you a million times for your generosity. Your donation has enriched my teaching skills and my students' academic experiences. My classroom is better because of you. ”
Thank you so much for your generosity towards me and my wonderful students. I teach an amazing group of 1st Graders who are consistently denied essential resources. They deserve every chance to receive a well-rounded education and your kindness has given them another avenue to success. I hope the thank-you notes that they wrote and the pictures I took will show you how grateful for and excited they about their new reading games.
Phonics is an essential part of learning to read, and 1st Grade is where successful readers bloom. Everyday, my students are expected to identify and blend sounds, discriminate between beginning, middle, and end sounds, identify rhymes, and many more challenging phonetic skills. The games and puzzles have made phonics a little more exciting and fun. Further, they must learn and read over 70 sight words by the end of the school year. Everyday (and sometimes multiple times), my students ask if they can play their "reading games". If I could let them, they would use these fun learning tools all day long!
Your generosity has shown my children that there are people out there who care about them and want to help them learn. When I explained Donorschoose.org to them and how we got our phonics games, they were so grateful and appreciative; though it was a bit difficult for them to understand that someone who had never met them would buy something so nice for them. Thank you for showing my students the power of a truly generous spirit. You have helped make our classroom a little bit brighter and more exciting everyday! ”
Thank you for the funding and purchase of the special lighting and microphones. The lighting system in our school auditorium is very outdated. By allowing us to receive the special light, we were able to do some "special effects" with our past winter program. The lights function in several ways by flashing on and off and also by varying the number of solid lights that are shining. For example, only one of the lights can be programmed to shine. This allows for a small area to be lit. It narrows the area that is lit much more than using a traditional spotlight. When we produce the Disney program in the spring for the hundreds of elementary students who come to see it, we will be able to use the flashing lights. It is always humorous to see how excited elementary children become just because of the lights!
The microphones were much clearer than our old ones. The audience commented about being able to hear and understand the students much better than in previous performances.
Your donation to our school means very much to the the students and me. It is easy to get discouraged when we receive no money to purchase music or equipment. But, since donorschoose.org started, it has made a tremendous impact on my program. I just want you to know that your donations make a difference for students and teachers. Thank you so much!”

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students have learned so much more than I anticipated from Three Cups of Tea. They especially like being able to read and listen to the book at the same time. We have been able to connect the themes from the book to our everyday lives and they have been inspired the wonderful example set by Greg Mortenson. We have also connected current events and geography to the book which has increased their interest in the world around them and how they can have a positive impact. Your contribution to my class has been invaluable.
The strained economy has cut our district budget and I never would have been able to bring this story and experience to my classes without your help. Reading is the key to improve our schools and an inspiring story encourages students to set and achieve their goals.
Thank you again for your generous gifts. You have helped my students make a positive change in their own lives and the world.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Onderdonk-Pritchard
