  • Ouch Splinters! Old Instruments Need to be Replaced!

    Funded Jul 29, 2010

Thank-you so much for your generosity towards my students and my music program at my school. We are a low income school and the current unemployment rate has hit our students' families very hard. The mallets are wonderful and the student's are having a wonderful time playing new songs with them. Next, to get more instruments to use them with!

Please continue to support this wonderful website in helping deliver needed resources to our countries schools. The donations from people like you have greatly impacted my teaching on a daily basis. My school cannot afford to give me a budget to supply instruments, music, or repairs. Everything I do is through fund-raising at my school, grants, and this wonderful website.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jazo

  • Hollywood Comes To Rogers Elementary

    Funded Nov 5, 2010

The joy you have given my students has been awesome. The day our packages arrived was a very precious moment. I gathered the students around our group rug and they were sitting with anticipation, as if we had been given an early Christmas present. I displayed each item and the kids were saying, "This is so cool. I want to be like the cow in Mrs. Wishey Washey", which is an all time favorite book in my classroom. The raves continued all through the day. The students were looking for books so they could select a costume that would go with some of their favorite characters.

One of my favorite memories was our Christmas program. I had found a very beautiful Kwanzaa poem and my heart skipped a beat because, I immediately thought about our African costumes. I will be including the pictures to show all of you how beautiful my students looked. The two students not only looked authentic and proud but read with fluency and expression. The audience was in awe of their performance. The students did an extraordinary job and I believe the attire gave them the confidence and pride to read the poem with such heartfelt emotion. I still get goosebumps when I think of this special moment.

This experience with your organization has been a major highlight for my students. Their love of reading has flourished beyond my wildest dreams. They have been able to capture the characters in so many of their favorite books. Even my shy little students have become confident; reading in front of an audience. I truly believe that your gift keeps on giving everyday. I am so grateful to you for creating this opportunity for my "life long readers." ”

  • Music for Young Dancers

    Funded Jul 29, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation to my "Music for Young Dancers" project! Your generosity has helped fund the ipod and speakers that I use every day to play music for students in my dance class. Up to 300 children from Pre-K through third grade have had the opportunity to dance jazz, ballet, hip hop, and salsa using music from our new equipment.

My students are so grateful for the music you have provided for us. They love to listen to a variety of songs and styles of music, from classical Tchaikosky to Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber. Without this new ipod and speakers, we would be a dance program without music! Thanks again for giving us the music that motivates our dancing.”

  • Bring Music to Life with Handbells

    Funded Aug 31, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. My students were so excited when I told them that they now have enough hand bells for everyone in the class to have a chance to play! Students in fourth grade have already used the hand bells extensively in a unit on the notes of the scale. One of my fourth grade classes played "America" on hand bells at our school's veterans day program in November.

My students in first and second grade will use the hand bells in the upcoming months when they learn about the notes of the scale and solfege. They are always very excited when they get to play instruments in my class and now they will have enough so they can all play at once!

Thanks again for your generous contribution to this project! You are helping to bring music alive for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ribelin

  • Spicing up a Music Room

    Funded Aug 14, 2010

Thank you so much for all the materials. I cannot tell you how much they have helped my students. The bean bags and Cd's are used on a weekly basis with the younger students and have improved their steady beat skills immensely. They sing to the songs now and are excited when we get started. They love when I read them a book that ties in with what they are learning.

The intermediate classes have just started using their composer books and timelines. The timelines are always up and they love seeing all the old composers that they've heard of. The composer books are used for researching and presentations. They enjoy learning about composers that they never knew about.

The holiday songs and recorder holiday songs were so much fun to teach. We all had a great time learning them and performing them. I know the parents really loved them as well.

Again thank you so much for all your donations. Your generosity will always be appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zipprich

  • Wow, Look And See! I See You, What Do You See? Part 1

    Funded Jul 30, 2010

Words can't begin to express how much these materials have helped to support my students! They love taking pictures, posing for pictures, and viewing the pictures once they are snapped. To see their faces light up when they have learned a new skill, and to be able to capture that moment to share with their families has been a great resource.

They have found new things everyday for us to take pictures of, and to draw pictures of, and this is all thanks to your generosity and your desire to help support children and education. Thank you for all you have done to assist in increasing new ways of learning within my classroom, and for all I know you will do in the future to support quality, diversified, education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lindsey

  • Keeping the Beat with Woodblocks and Cymbals

    Funded Sep 10, 2010

All the rust is gone! Thank you for providing cymbals and woodblocks for my music class! My students have had a wonderful time playing the cymbals and woodblocks since they arrived.

One of the biggest lessons I now get to teach my students is how to take care of nice things. In this regrettably disposable society many of my students have never had the opportunity to practice caring for good equipment that they intended to keep for years. Because these instruments are sturdy, new and made to last, I get to teach my students how to take care of things so that we can keep the instruments who provided in good working order for many many years to come. As we have passed out the instruments on instrument days it has been a true joy to see them handling the new instruments with care and respect. None of the students have mistreated or misused any of the instruments. My class is filled with students saying things like. "Look at this one, it's SHINY!",and "That instrument looks loud!" and "I wonder what kind of sound that instrument makes?"

We have had a great time accompanying our singing with rhythmic patterns. In 2nd grade we played along to an instrumental piece called "Country Gardens". They are being so careful as they play that I am considering adding this song to our 2nd grade performance in the spring. In Kindergarten we used our instruments to tell a story together called "The Old Black Fly". It's about a fly who causes all kinds of trouble. I bet you can imagine what fun sounds the children made with the cymbals. What a difference you have made! ”

  • Percussion Music Class Needs

    Funded Sep 2, 2010

I want to personally thank each of you for the outstanding contribution you have made to our program. Everyone "ooo"s and "aah"s our new hand drums. The were a great addition to our Christmas concert at the middle school and open up new opportunities at the high school level too. Music for percussion is growing rapidly and that means having the available resources to play the music we want to play. I would hate to know my students were being left out due to a lack of financial backing. Please continue to support donors choose. I want our program to be the very best. Remember, you made a difference and I will continue to push our kids to higher levels.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mayo

  • I Can Do This! Guitars for Kids

    Funded Aug 23, 2010

I offer you my gratitude for helping us to establish a guitar program at my school. I am impressed with the impact this program has had on my students. In our six-week music class rotation, students are building a playable repertoire of 20 songs, six chords, as well as basic music reading skills.

Some of the highlights for me over the past four months have involved the extension of the classroom guitar experience to students' lives: coming to me having dusted off their home guitar and ready for a tuning check, going home to teach or learn a song or guitar from a sibling, asking a relative for a guitar as a gift, and of course the many songs the more skilled student guitarists teach us. I love that my middle school students are eager to play and quick to learn.

Thank you for helping to make this guitar class scenario a reality for me and my students. Your generosity has had a huge impact”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Portello-Swagel

  • Not Drummers...Percussionists

    Funded Jul 31, 2010

Coming back to school this year was a lot of fun for us. My young percussionists played for the opening of school and marched the entire school in. It made for a lovely opening.

One of my bass drummers kept complaining about his mallets. I told him we were getting new ones and he asked me why. I told him we received a donation and that someone had bought mallets for us. Again he asked why. I said people wanted to help. He just smiled.

It is nice to know that quality equipment makes a big difference. My bass drummers sound so much better with their new equipment that I cannot believe it. They are trying harder to, and my drumline for the parade is ready now, and the parade is in three weeks.

I cannot begin to thank you enough for your donation to my students. It means a lot, and I know that they also really appreciate it.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Maust
