I want to thank you immensely for your financial gifts helping to provide an iPad for my Adapted PE students.
It has proven to be especially valuable in modeling activities such as proper weightlifting techniques, yoga moves, and track skills. The portability is especially important as I travel from school to school every day.
In one of the pictures you'll see three students watching a video on proper baton passing. In the others, you'll see students practicing their weight training and yoga with the iPad. It has been rewarding to find the best experts in these fields and share their videos with my students.
A large part of my job involves administrative tasks such as taking attendance, writing goals, and creating assessment reports. Because I am on the move as an itinerant teacher, the ipad makes these tasks much simpler.
Again, thank you for helping to make me a more effective teacher, and for blessing my students with some great technology!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Swanberg

Everyday, I am deeply thankful for your generous donation. You cannot imaging how helpful our seat sacks have been. Not only have my students become more organized, but our classroom always looks tidy. My students are proud to be the only ones at our site who have sacks.
When my students first received the materials, they were in awe. I explained to them how we got the materials and they felt special. One students said, "Wow! they must be really nice people!" [You, our donor]. To this day, students make sure their folders and notebooks are in order. In my 22 years of teaching, I had never had a class without cluttered desks. I seriously had never seen even the most disorganized, ADHD kids not struggling to find their materials. Some parents have expressed that even at home their child is careful to have their folder organized, "because the teacher says, our folders have to be neat like in our sacks."
In my professional opinion, if a child is not organized, their success is at risk. I have been amazed of how much something so simple can help a child be organized. My classroom environment is so much less stress free this year, and I owe a huge part of it to your generosity. I say this deep heartedly. You can come into our classroom anytime of day, any day of the week and you will not find a cluttered desk. Even my typical ADHD child can find their belongings easily.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rubio

Room 22 is extremely excited to have technology accessible in the classroom. Having IPads in our class has changed the way that we learn. Vizzle is one of the educational apps that we use on a daily basis. This app allows the students to work on their IEP goals and track their progress. Starfall and Learning A-Z are other educational app that the students enjoy using to practice math and reading skills. These programs are engaging and the students are excited when they have the opportunity to work with technology. In addition to using the IPad for educational apps we also use it as a motivational tool. Students can earn tokens to have free play on the IPad. Using technology as a reward has motivated the students to be persistent and complete their class work.
Adrian and Cruz are two of my students that have especially loved the new technology. Prior to having the IPads they were unmotivated to work and often would protest having to complete classwork. Now that we have the technology as a possible reward they are more excited to participate in class.
Your generosity and donation has made it possible for our class to explore the world of technology. Many of my students do not have IPads at home and love when they have the opportunity to play with technology in the class. Room 22 is forever grateful. Thank you!”
Your donation of the wobble stools have been a very useful addition to our classroom for my students who have a hard time sitting still on the hard and uncomfortable chairs of our classroom. 3 of the stools are reserved for the students that need it all the time and the other 3 rotate between the rest of the students who use it while taking a test.
I released the stools one at a time, giving it to the student who needed the most. When I offered the stool to my first student he was thrilled to try it out. At first he twirled in it and played around but soon got over the play benefit and now is able to move his body without being disruptive. For the 3 stools that rotate between students, they are a much desired treat the expectation is that if you sit on the wobbly stool work gets done quicker than normal. The stool has magical powers!
My 3rd graders are growing fast. At the moment they are busy learning their times tables and Latin root words. My students just completed building 4 different communities all by themselves from construction paper and proudly displayed the communities at our school Art Walk. In the next three weeks students will be learning about community helpers and their role in the community. They will read about different jobs and how each person plays an integral role in the success of the community.
Thank you so much for the gift to our classroom. Donors like you make dreams come true! THANK YOU!”

Mrs. Asher

On behalf of the students and myself, we want to send a BIG thank you to all of you for your generosity and support in helping us "Learn and Grow!"
Our classroom will use the pattern block cards to teach visual discrimination by color and shape. The building materials support group socialization such as taking turns and sharing. The monthly magnetic calendar is part of our daily circle-time activity and helps the students reach their state standards including counting, day/night, days of the week, months of the year, seasons and weather.
We look forward to receiving and using the classroom materials donated through Donors Choose.
Thank you again and here is a big "cheer" to the 2015-16 school year!”
The new technology has made a tremendous impact on my classroom. My students are so excited to earn "Technology Time" because they are not all fighting over one single device! These devices have expanded each and everyone of their vocabularies. For kids who struggle with oral language, they sure have plenty of words when they ask for the tablets or request a new game.
My students use the technology in different ways, depending on their skill level and interests. One of my little guys has learned how to type his last name in just two weeks while the other one has mastered Temple Run. The behavior in my class has also improved because whoever has the best day gets first choice of devices. As expected, my old "green" iPad is no longer high up on the list.
The Surface Pro is such a dynamic device that has boosted my students' learning in ways I didn't expect. It can browse and navigate websites that we had never previously used. While "secretly" practicing language arts and math skills in the form of a game, they are also working on their fine motor skills. They have to really focus on their hand-eye coordination in order to use the track pad.
The impact has already been phenomenal and I cannot wait to see what else these kids can and will do thanks to your generous support.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nord
